Modest opening ceremony and very bad sound system.
That sums up my impression. Now awaiting first match.

I almost turned off the tv when Pitbull appeared.
Overall the ceremony was good.

Good ceremony, but didn't like the part with Pitbull.

Neymar bailed them out on that one.

But he has to watch it. One more Yellow Card and he's out for the rest of the game.

And if a player does get sent off, via Red Card, does he also get suspended from their team's next game?

Yes. Red card means dismissal and suspension for next game.

Such hilarious first goal. At least Neymar saved the day, but still a shame for Brazil.

The opening ceremony is meh. I wished they brough Shakira.

Well that's a little unfortunate. I don't think that was a penalty really.

Dunno about you, but Fred fell to the ground a little too easily for that kind of contact to get a penalty.

Also it was a shit save attempt by the Croatian goalkeeper there.

Exactly what I just wrote. It was really harsh IMO.

Never a penalty. The contact was minimal. Fred dived there. The Japanese referee should be ashamed of himself.

A somewhat meh opening game. First-half was more enjoyable than the first. Neymar did very well to convert a random chance into a great goal. Croatia never managed to really challenge the home team, though, not even in the second-half. So, yup, the far-better team won.

And yes, the penalty was a terrible decision. But, ah well, spotty refereeing is part of the game.

Brazil won by playing with 12, Fred should be on the Olympics, that dive was worthy of at least a bronze medal, Neymar played on borrowed time, Ramires wins the ball on the last goal by cinically comitting a fault on Croatia's midfielder...
In other words, today Brazil wins on the score, Croatia wins on football merits.

Why? He complied to FIFA's orders, for Brazil to win.

Brazil won by decisions, i have to say. That was a dive, and Croatia disallowed goals was a fair challenge

Whoa, honestly I was expecting Brazil to receive help from the referees at some point during the World Cup since they're the host nation, but from game 1...

Well, David Luiz was the savior of today. Croatia played well. Probably Marcelo won't play next match.
