Mind #u#k type of anime

Anime's like Eva or Lain that has a lot of phycological stuff in it.

Narutaru fits that criteria rather nicely, I'd say. It might not seem like it by the first episode but believe me it makes a sharp change rather quickly.

Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari (Hundred Stories) can get really messed up. Great series though. It follows some Japanese folk tales, usually about demons and monsters but what it really looks at are the demons within the human mind.

Its on Animesuki, under Hundred Stories.

Its set in a fantasy-historical Japan. Hundred Stories has a different art style though that some people don't like (but they're just picky and haven't seen Ogin-san in a kimono!).

Hundred Stories is great, with truly unique art style and dark and twisted stories.

I'd say maybe RahXephon, Boogiepop Phantom, TEXHNOLYZE, Gilgamesh can all fit into your criteria.

The absolute perfect choice for this would be Gilgamesh.

I'd have to agree on the Narutaru nomination....

I'm only at Episode 3 and the dialogue alone is among one of the most f**ked-up I've seen...
And yes, Now and then, Here and there is certainly one of those.

Also to note: This type of Anime has a significant trait:

"The protaganist will, at some point of the show, usually at the end or during a traumatic event, scream in either one of these fashion--
Male: HuuuEhEhEhEhEheheheheheheheh!!!
Female: Iiyaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

There, I feel better now

So if mean by mind #u#k you mean something that has no signifigant or intellectual value, narutaru is a good choice. I was so dissappointed with this anime that I have to bash it in every thread i see it mentioned.

Have you seen all 13 episodes? A lot of people I've seen that bash it have only watched the first two or so. I'm not saying everyone will/should like it, but it's certainly one of my all-time favorites. The anime only scratches the surface of the story by the way, if you want to know the real fucked up things that happen, check out Tsurumaru's detailed manga summaries.

And in the vein of Narutaru, check out Alien 9 (licensed).

Wow i had no idea there was more to it. I thought around episode 10 it was getting really good, but it leaves off in the same place it started. I was just really pissed off cause it had no ending, and didnt answer any of the questions it brought up. I mean it had a good theme, they just didnt carry it through. If they make a 2nd season then, id say its worth checking out.

saikano spoiler

Just finished watching Saikano, close to finishing hundred stories and about to finish downloading narutaru. Again thanks for recommending these great anime's. Saikano's really good, at first I thought I wouldn't like it but after the 3rd episode I was hooked. I was watching hundred stories at night and it get's a bit disturbing but disturbingly good. Damm I wish Saikano and Hundred stories were 24 or 26 episodes but in a way it was better this way. I hope someone makes a new anime that has similar themes to hundred stories or saikano but would be over 50 episodes. Looking forward to narutaru it should finish tommorow or tonight if this damm torrent won't keep getting corrupted.

The new season brings Monster into the mix. Something to follow. Hope you like.

Don't be hesitant to get ToTan, quality. Haven't seen Keep.

Edit: Angel's Egg!

Haibane Renmei - a shoujo anime of this type (though not much of a thriller).. produced by the same people who did Lain.

Also try Angel Sanctuary or Hitsuji no Uta if you like supernatural stuff.

I saw Monster episode 1 today and yeah it's a really good series.

Thanks for recommending Haibane Renmei but I already saw it. Your right it's not much of a thriller but it's relaxing to watch it. I'll check out your other reccomendations too.

I forgot about GANTZ! Its the one of the most f***ed up things I've read, if the manga is any indication of the anime series which will air soon. I can't describe what's going because the characters have no idea what's going and its from their point of view.
