I just finished reading through this thread and now I've gotta ask. Is Ainz in any actual danger at any point in the series? Is there someone who can match him or is he curbstomping everyone he meets?

I don't think this is that kind of story, lol

He's not trying to get stronger. He want to curbstomp everyone. That's seem to be his literal goal, lord over everyone and everything. His looking for other players is just a step toward that, precaution.

I agree.

This light novel seems to be more a story about how the MC can adapt to his current situation (being his own character in a fantasy world that seems as real as his own, being an overlord with a lot of powerful subordinates that have high expectations of him as their master, and to try to survive/live in that unknown world).

All that was written until now is basically that humans, elves and dwarves are all races that receive no special abilities and have "normal" stats. Which is why they're lumped together as "humans".
Everything that receives better stats (compared to "humans") is lumped together as demi-human.
And if your race receives a big stat-boost AND special abilities? Then they will be lumped together as heteromorphic and gets a big disadvantage to balance everything out.
The game was either really messy in this aspect or the author/chinese RAW is doing a bad job explaining stuff to us^^
It is confirmed (I think) that Aura&Mare are Dark Elves (which is also misleading because people start to think of drow. They are called dark elves because they have a "tan", hence they are "darker" then normal elves). Since the RAW is saying that the race is categorised as "human"... well... we have to write human

Nope, iirc he's in pseudo danger a few times as an adventurer when the opponent thinks they have the upperhand because he isn't using any of his magic/skills, though

From some spoilers in this thread seems like Ainz have a incredible strenght for a magician type but after all he is not a true warrior and can't fight very well in close combat, his travelling in the guise of Black Knight is probably even for getting more experience in that
His high strenght stats is just because he is a Lv.100 player, that means a Yggdrasil player with skills and stats centered on physical combat is a true monster and can probably rip a mountain apart with one hand.
Sure, Ainz can probably do the same with one magic.
I've made another theory, Ainz thought logic was modified when he was transported in the new world, he can't feel deep emotions and his leadership and quick thought surprised himself, maybe he was modded in the transition?
Maybe his high undead resistence to mind attacks blocked a more powerful brainwash?
Possibly another player brought from Yggdrasil could become a totally different person from the original. Transformed in the character they made.

Question time:
In the original WN Albedo don't existed, was Ainz alone or he gone to the village with another support?
When Ainz travels under BK guise was he alone and made a party with the unlucky adventurers or he brought someone along? I've read about one of the special Maids.
Ainz under BK guise fights unarmed delivering punches or use some magic sword?
I've read about Albedo having a sister but she was a WN characther.

But Ainz went alone to the village and used his DK to murder everyone.

yup he went alone and not every raiding soldier was killed.

up to the point I read^.... never had a BK guise and hasn't left home to go anywhere else since there.

You said Ainz fights with 2 greatswords, are they made from magic? Or he just bash them in the enemy direction without using a pose and then the class limitation doesn't active? Or he tied/fused the swords to his gauntlets*laugh*?
Have Ains joined the adventurers party alone or Gamma travels with them?
It seems strange for the fanatics subordinates to send him without a escort, even if he orders them to leave him alone.

Oh what i say is mostly in the context of the LN.

So Naberal joins him along with the adventurers to travel.
Nothing much is said about why he can use the swords, but apparently its some kind of magical sword and he just swings it with one hand, chopping orges in half (this is in vol2), basically his whole armor + sword is all magic made. From what I read... He doesn't need a stance, hes just like overpowered in speed and strength. But he can't use a lot of his spells while he is in armor.
Well he does somehow convince Albedo that he will go alone with Naberal, because Naberal looks the most human. (Albedo can't hide her horns or tail.)

after that he hasn't left to go anywhere else.
Gamma as the adventurer and no party play seen.

so yeah the content difference between the WN and LN is pretty great.
