I can see time itself!

The first Gundam series I saw a little of when I first got into anime two years ago or so was Wing and Endless Waltz. I didn't like it at all; Too super roboty without the flair of super robot shows.
Then SEED came and blew me away. This of course interested me in more Gundam and by the time I had watched 20 SEED episodes I already owned Federation vs Zeon for the PS2 and I had begun watching MSG, 8th, 0080 and 0083. I loved Gundam, even if I still today think that Wing is mostly a big bag of crap because of Suicide Boy and the Idiot Crew (except for Duo, I like him). I dislike a lot of things about SEED and SEED D; I do not think it's the best Gundam show out there, but I do like and enjoy it. You're looking for another MSG, Zeta or Victory; SEED isn't for you. And I thought the exact mimical timing of the deployment of the GuAIZ/Gelgoog was more apparent than the first part of the series due to the striking similarities regarding such a minor thing. I am well aware of the fact that SEED generously borrows from the older series. And it DID revitalize Gundam in the sense that it gave a lot of cash and introduced it to a whole crop of new fans, and out of this bunch there WILL come new mega-Gundam fans. I am one of them and several of my friends have followed in my footsteps after I have told them how great it was. And we don't know how enhanced the trio is, only that they are. Since they seemed to be able to outspeed and outthink Coordinators (including surprising an MS ace, but some of it surely is because Athrun hasn't been in a MS for quite some time while the trio surely has trained a lot in preparation) it would suggest that they are enhanced to become better fighters - Coordinators are enhanced with better reflexes and thought processing and such, but they're not "super human". |

I find the current trio alot better organized and predictable than the "idiot trio". Maybe they've refined the process or use volunteers? Blue Cosmos would never let the "idiot trio" intermingle with society let alone out to window-shop... |

The character designs are horrid and over used.
Infinte ryvirus. Scryed. Soukyuu no Fafner. Gundam seed. Gundam seed destiny. All the characters in the shows above all loook the same. Bandai has gone downhilll. They have even gone and used zaku designs in destiny. |

I think that's a bit of an overstatement...
While yes, it is true they look veeery similar in some, like I said, we can't go straight ahead and kill Hisashi Hirai for it... There's prolly some sort of balance you have to keep between quality of animation and similarity of character designs... I've neve watched Scryed, but the animation quality for these anime isn't that bad... though I'd rather have different character designs for once and cut down on the animation quality a bit. ._. But yeah, it's not liek they ALL look the same. Let's see... that weird flappy pink Vaia person in Infinite Ryvius (Neya), does she look like anyone from those series? That annoying Lucson doesn't look like anyone else from his creations to me either, and neither does Aoi Housen (not a lot, anyway), and Kouji Aiba (though he reminds me of someone else not from his creations)... Then again they're all from teh same anime Oh, well, I haven't seen another Yzak yet... or another Aisha... (I liked AIsha, okay!) Of course, then again, I've never watched scryed, so... EDIT: Aiba Yuuki from Infinite Ryvius does look similar to Kira in some ways, imo. Also, I think it's a bit harder to complain about face shape because well, have you tried drawing 1000s of pictures of people and wouldn't you rather have them with the same face shape... Also non-main characters tend to have more varying face shapes. Of course there are more accomplished character designers out there (imo) like (again, imo) Kise Kazuchika and Ando Masashi, etc... yeah...

Yuuki and Kira might be a bit similar, but it's probably because of the fact they both have the same voice actor more than anything else. Last edited by rainz; 2004-10-10 at 07:26. |

well, yup, they look similar, but they are drawn by the same guy... I mean, it's actually quite common, like the characters in Inuyasha, Ranma, Urusei Yatsura look quite similar to each other... I can tolerate the similar character design, but the thing bothering me is those strange tendencies he takes in drawing the characters, like in Soukyuu no Fafner, everyone has bars on their face. And now in SEED Destiny, as mentioned by someone before, it seems some female characters' legs are dangerously thin...

Dreamless, that was most probably because compared to everyone else who were ordinary Naturals he was a "super human"; the next generation of Coordinators were probably not as dominant. And yes, Kira and Athrun can fight Naturals with their bare hands, but they have enhanced speed, reflexes, perception and such - but obviously not as much as the new trio. They have been enhanced to be warriors, while the old Coordinators were just enhanced to eliminate stuff like terminal diseases and become smarter and faster. And for the spoiler: Spoiler:

Back to Seed Destiny, anyone else noticed how Athrun's zaku warrior's axe dissapeared when it lost its arm, then regaining it when Impulse appears? The trio's fighting style reminds me of the movie "Equilibrium". |

The OP has gota one of the greatest mind f@cks around. I do not wana see Lacus running back to Athrun! Especially how things ended when Seed finished. All this idel speculation into the meaning of the OP is not healthy for me! |

well, it seems there are two Lacuses, one with Kira/Shin, the other with Athrun, or something...
Oh, and the guy in the intermission should be Shin I think... the one catching Pinky from Lacus I mean... |

Hahahaha!... don't worry... I will be in a murderous state if they go back to Athrun/Lacus, yes
... But you know, if they're going to make a clone of Lacus.... *runs away and screams* 'specially an evil Lacus...
