The fact that I find Steph's constant abuse, misery, and sexual slapstick amusing means I'm going straight to hell aren't I? *sigh*
An interesting transition episode as we now prepare to meet one of the more interesting characters in the series. |

Well, guess that settles it.
Spoiler for LN comparison/left out:
All that's left for majority of the episode is Steph getting bullied which I'm not fond of in the LN. It's quite dissatisfying seeing that part getting so much focus this episode. Too much for my liking. This is just my personal feeling, but this turned out to be quite a dull episode except near the end w/o the juicy parts they left out. However, it's not like I don't understand the time constraint of having to cram prologue + ch 1 into a 24 mins episode so it's passable. 7/10 |

this is the only thing i dont like on this series, how stephanie is abused, bullied, specially by shiro a moe, evil, perve loli, a whole episode to show how stephanie is a joke or buttmonkey is not fun or for the sake of fanservice to make her strip in a humiliating way, really that are one of the things who make me "hate light novels", make fun of her one or few times can be fun but the whole episode is disgusting.

Just fan service, but since they adapt one LN chapter per episode, it's pretty much as expected.
The chess match in episode 4 felt somewhat short, so when watching episode 5, I thought the studio should have shortened the games with Steph a bit more to push the pace. But they get bonus points for the great animation when Avant Heim appeared. When they pulled out the Laputa joke, I literally expected a castle with a tree on top in the sky, but it's just a giant tree without the castle. Japanese Engrish.

..In english translation, they use warbeast for the translation of the species? (Well, better than chinese sub that write warbest...)
I believe they are actually kanaized english words in Japanese language only, instead of actual English. |

The act itself is what I hope they would gloss over quickly, which they end up doing the opposite. It's not just disgusting, but characterization wise, the event makes all three MCs come of worse than they should've. Sora and Shiro are bulies, and Steph is one thick gullible pony. This whole situation is uncalled for because it brings out their worst side which I think they are better off without. |

Of course, one might think it could be "werebeast", but werebeast would turn like this in katana: 「ウェアビースト」 (although "were" is turned into ワー in very rare occasions). That being said, it is possible the author didn't exactly use the correct katakana for this, as the kanji used for the race, 「獣人種」 do not mention war at all. As far as it goes, it is best to stick with what the translator has at hand so. As for Jibril's gibberish, it looks like this to me: 「Excuseそのperson方? MeのLibraryにYouは御用で?」

I think it's a mix between english and japanese.. or more like she's just putting some words on random with english
Anyway, Yukari is really perfect as Djibril. Can't wait to see her more in future episodes Also I like how they add more games with Steph.. it mirrors the unyieldingess of humanity in the face of an impossible enemy.
