I was putting off watching the episodes after the first one for some reason, and now I realized how wrong that was.

Terra E is excellent. The pacing of the plot is good, the characters are interesting and I am actually excited about watching the next episode. A very good series, I must say.

PS: Ha-ha. I am glad I am not the only one who saw the similarities between the μ ship and Galactica. Especially now, if the United Human Army is going to pursue them to Earth. 8)

Well the original movie that the TV series is based on pre-dates Galactica afaik. And the storyline only very loosely parallels some parts of Galactica... it was mostly just a tongue-in-cheek comment for a joke.

[spoiler=Speculation]Well in the preview it said that Sam and Swena were now Members candidates, so I wonder if that was because of them working with Keith. At any rate, I expect that they will graduate and be assigned to a ship that is sent out to persue the Shangrila. And then the inevitable reunion of Sam and Swena when they are shocked to find out that Jomy is now the leader of the Mu.

Well, the original manga came out in 1977-1980, while Battlestar Galactica started airing in 1978.

I too was only half-joking about the similarities (though, they are there!). I guess you can attribute them more to the Zeitgeist of those days. Perhaps this was the kind of story that was relevant at the time.

Stopped watching anime for a few weeks. Decided to pick up To Terra for some reasons. It was a lucky good choice.

Keith is definately my favorite character so far. I hope he gets a big role later cause I don't like Jomy that much.

Shiroe in the preview of episode 7 is getting on my nerve. Not that I liked him when he appeared in episode 5, but it seems like he grew worse in between.

Perhaps I am just pure evil, but seriously, I would not mind seeing bad things happen to him (Like seeing Keith beat him up or something).

I'll second that. But with him being what he is, I think tragedy is only a couple of steps away It's amazing that he made it past the adulthood exam, but I doubt that he'll be able to suppress his nature forever.

I just started this Serie yesterday .
And i felt it was my duty (:P) to watch the Original movie .
When i read that the series was a remake , I had thought the movie was some kind of prequel . So now i kinda regret having watched it a bit as i realized it wasn't a prequel at all .
But apart from having being spoiled , I loved the movie even thought it wasn't short enough so they didn't had the time to focus on the character development much .
And that's the good thing the series is doing , it's focusing on the character development .
I think this may perhaps be the best series of the season .

Lol duty. I'm a bit cautious since the movie is so old, but since many posters here say it's worth it, I guess I'll have to watch it after all. This series was really shit when it started out but has been improving tremendously ever since episode 3. Must be due to being based on a cool story

So, now that I've spoiled myself silly by watching the movie, here's a brain dump while it's still fresh in my mind. I think it's safe to post here, since we've already been discussing the movie in this thread and all that...

Shiroei's role is surprisingly minor, and he dies really early on. Shiroei haters will be glad. I was actually expecting much more from him, but I guess he is just a background detail to justify Keith's actions later on when he takes a certain other Mu under his wing.

Sam is useless too, especially after they erase his memories of Jomy. Nuff said. But on the other hand, it looks like he's getting a bigger role in the series.

Swena is an anime invention, unless she was in the manga. It's cool though, more female characters is a good thing (unless they all happen to be mecha pilots, in which case the director and animators all deserve to get shot)

Karina is already grown up at the start of the movie (which spans, at the very least, 18 years and 9 months, but most likely is even longer), so I think the new series will actually take longer than that.

Tony evolves, growing up by at least five years in the span of a couple of minutes. Major WTF moment. There's a limit to the kinds of powers you can ascribe to telepaths, you know. And what does he say? "I've grown because you need my help". Oh noes! Bring out the tissues...

Speaking about WTF, Keith didn't have to shoot Jomy at the end. He was already pretty much free of the Grand Mother Computer, so it's stupid. And since Keith dies too, and Tony leaves for some distant star with his sidekick über-Mu in tow, is Physis supposed to lead Terra now? She's the one character I wish they'd have gotten rid of early on, but ironically she's the last (wo)man standing...

The whole unpredictable element to control the equation thing is probably the source for a certain *cough Matrix cough* other movie's inspiration. At least, I don't remember anything like it in any pre-80ies science fiction literature (and I've read quite a bit - with the exception of Asimov, so I won't be surprised if he came up with this idea first).

So , I was at Chapters today and i picked up "to Terra" volume two for a quick read ( cuz volume one wasn't anywhere to be seen ) and this is what i noted ( differences and such )

- Tony isn't Jomy's son. But Karina is still his mother.
Apparently Jomy had allowed her to marry with Tony's father .
Which explain why Tony doesn't refer to Jomy in a polite ( or honorific , you choose ) way . although he did called him Granpa.
Also , all the l33t kid from Tony's army / Squadron where naturally born , but only those born on Nazac had psychic powers. There were 9 of them , and they all worship Jomy like a God since they wouldn't have been there if he hadn't allowed them to be. Although Tony did curse his existence being manipulated by Jomy. Not too sure if i got that right since i wasn't really reading and paying attention , i kinda skipped some pages.
- About Sam , apparently , he has a bigger role in the manga , but he basically is the vessel of all the bad luck . What i mean by that is that bad things keeps happening to the poor man who hasn't done anything wrong expect having being Jomy's friend . And of course , they keep erasing his memory over and over , which basically caused him to go crazy. He didn't even recognized Scirroco ..erm i mean..Keith .
- Tony said Physys wasn't a Mu at all , it's just that she received some telepathy from Soldier Blue...but then again , Tony really hates her so I don't know if what he said was completely true.
- Oh right..Mu stands for Mutants ......I never made the connection before . I'm slow
- So overall , the Movie is a good adaptation of the manga , they just had to skip some things such as the chara development because of the time limit , and they added some Drama by making Jomy being Tony's father. But All i just said is based on me having quickly read trough volume two of the manga . I haven't read nor volume one , nor volume two , so they could completely have messed up the end of the movie , i don't know . Also , In the manga , i should note that Jomy reminds me of a dictator at some point . Basically people ( the MU's) sees him as a god.

I'm really curious to see what approach the series will take about Tony. I like the idea of him being Jomy's son better. But that won't happen as Karina seems to be really much younger then him. But then again , i have no clue who Karina is yet. Can Anyone who know who she is ( in the series i mean ) screencap her so that i know . thx.
I already can't wait to see Tony .

Well Karina is the little girl who holds Jomy's hand and asks about his mother in episode 2 or so. Or so people say, I guess that assumption is because they have similar haircuts. I'm too lazy to take a screencap, but you can't miss it, really.

Wait a moment - Karina is both Tony's mother and the wife of Tony's child? That doesn't make any sense lol.

I too like the Karina x Jomy with Tony as their son better. After all, something good has to happen to Jomy before he kicks the bucket. Poor guy. (I really hated him during the first three episodes, but sympathise with him quite a bit after having watched the movie.)

In later eps, if it follows the movie, Kieth becomes as big a role as Jomy. I dont really like keith at the moment, theres just something wrong about him. Shiroe is weird, im not sure what to make of him. He was cute in ep5 in a way, but now he's a total freakazoid.

As for Jomy, i've missed him lol. Hope they get back to him soon. Judging from the time jump we've had already Jomy is now the leader of the Mu, which sucks IMO. Since we could of had atleast 2 eps of tension as he tried to win over the Mu.

Really must see if i can get the manga some how
