i believe so. in fact, bleach was rejected by the publisher when kubo first introduced the idea since it was too much like yu yu hakusho and the latter was quite popular at that time. so kubo went on and did another manga, zombie powder if i'm not mistaken, correct me if i'm wrong.

was a fan of yu yu hakusho myself until the last part. it was...uh, i'd rather not say...

Afaik ZP was his first manga, which he left undone due to personal reasons, and later went on to make BLEACH. I think he has re-used all of the character designs in the latter.

his bleach idea came around when yu yu hakusho was at its peak, around early 90's. he was really young then, around 17 maybe. but it was rejected because of its similarity to the latter. so he went on to work on another manga, which turned out to be zombie powder indeed.

I like Bleach for what it is, but I actually started with Zombie Powder before I got into Bleach and would love to see the story finish since it left on such a big WTF-cliffhanger.

who knows? as far as i can tell kubo doesn't feel like finishing bleach either. i think he might be itching to work on another manga. i won't be surprised if he abandoned bleach just like he did with zombie powder. i just hope that if he decides to abandon bleach, he should at least get someone else to finish it for him. get a ghost writer kubo please!

Was wondering if Tsukishima san and Shishigawara are in fact Fullbringers as well could the book Tsukishima is reading be his Item, and the handwrap Shishigawara is wearing be his?

The good fights usually take a long ass time to get to. In Bleach's case, maybe we'll see that in 50-100 chapters.
