Isn't it on the Frog Scroll or something? Like Naruto wrote his name. Some people speculate the name before he wrote his was his fathers. Apparently the name was 'Arashi Kazama' or 'Kazama Arashi' Arashi being the first name. This would make sense of Naruto taking on his mothers maiden name maybe so people didn't treat him differently for being the Hokage's son.

I think it's fairly clear that whatever family Naruto came from had a great history in Konoha.
After all, his last name means spiral, and the spiral motif is seen everywhere in Konoha, from apparel right down to the stylized leaf emblem on the forehead protector. It'd be interesting to know whether they'd always used that version of the leaf. On first glance, you probably wouldn't even be able to know it was a leaf. On the slight chance that the yondaime was Naruto's father, perhaps they added the spiral as a symbol of respect. |

To me Naruto's actual father and mother must've both died fighting the Kyuubi. They might have known the 4th, or been relatives of the 4th.
Their death might've triggered something in Yondaime's mind and make him take the decision of choosing Naruto as the recipient for the Kyuubi. This is just speculation, but I don't see Yondaime as a very attractive father figure for Naruto. Then again, my theory here is also as easily replaced with Yondaime instead of a father. And probably made more dramatic by the death of his "wife". I'll stop my ranting here.

I keep picturing the 4th hokage(yondaime) as naruto's father. They bear a resemblance with the same hairstyle. Plus the fact that naruto seems to be following in his footsteps (learning the same jutsus) also makes me believe this is true. As for naruto's mother I dont really have the slightest clue.

If Naruto really was Yondaime's son, then wouldn't Jiraiya have known that off the bat from thier first encounter? Jiraiya trained Yondaime and was close to him. So I would think Jiraiya would have picked up on the family resmblence or kept an eye on his son over the years. But in fact Jiraiya wanted nothing to do with Naruto and only had a partial interest after he he saw the kyuubi seal.
Secondly....As to Naruto's name meaning spiral and the village symbol. Give credit to the author on giving a creative name to the lead character that would ultimately have a great influence on the village. He may even have been given that name after the kyuubi was sealed. Naruto could have been the villages greatest weapon/asset/treasure with the kyuubi stored inside him. His name could have represented the hope that he would one day become the heart and protector of the village. |
