It took a while (12 episodes!), but I think I finally got the proper read on Maou, and the Demons in general.
Maou is, in D&D parlance, very Lawful Neutral. Or, in other setups, he's all about Order, rather than Chaos. This very much extends to the Demons as well. The end result is that they're all about "Rational Self-Interest" and logic, but with very little emotion put into their thinking. Not that, especially in human form, they completely lack emotions, but that they're rarely ever used for decision making. It explains Maou's sudden take to Japan and the rules systems. So, to humans, the Demons would come across as "inhuman" (ignoring the fact they look very different). To the Demons, the humans make lots of decisions that don't serve any purpose. Much like Maou, Ashiya & Lucifer eating the holy-power infused food because it was there to eat and saved them money. (Ashiya obviously not getting the good end of that choice.) Given this context, it also gives an "out" for the lack of viewpoint corruption that any of the Demons have shown. Suzano is shown to be wracked with guilt for what she did in propping up a pretty horrible regime. Even if somewhat limited, that type of action always has a cost on a person's emotional and mental states. The corruption is far, far worse for someone with dictatorial powers. There are plenty of fairly recent examples of what dictators will go through to hold onto power and the expectation that they'll keep it. Maou & Ashiya have never shown any of that, which was always the most fantastical aspect to the series. It's how Maou can show a Will to Power yet never actually come across as a megalomaniac. All told, a wonderful episode and I'm glad to finally get a better insight into Maou. Even if it keeps crushing Chiho's feelings. (In hilarious ways) |

Did we or are we going to get an explanation concerning the purple magic at MgRonald's after Maou brought the bamboo there? Was it James' doing, Maou leaking magic, or Chi-chan breaking a spell?

Ashiya was totally guilt tripping himself.
It was pretty LOL to watch, but also pathetic. Maou sure is a responsible one. Guess the human world transformed him into a normal person. Olba is the only one that I can't stand in this anime. Looks like Olba did something that evens the odds. Sariel was definitely the biggest loser of this episode. Awesome episode!!

Maou seems ridiculously over-powered, but I guess the fear of seeing a moon a thousand time larger would generate enough fear to fuel his needs. Still wondering how they will explain Maou's actions back home, and maybe that will happen next episode, but with all this generic anime pap going on, this was also the biggest cliff-hanger of the anime season, since...
We don't know what happened back at MgRonalds and whether Maou will get in trouble or lose his job!! |

Episode 12
Yoko Hikasa, will you marry me? she does Emi so good, I had gotten used to her voicing acceptedly endowed girls, to hear her flustered over her flat COUGH I mean ample boobs, I'm sorry, I can't help but laugh Don't worry Emi! With great flatness comes great massagUAGH *mangatron receives a holy kick to his crotch*
FREE avatars! Emi edition (not much since it's late, and some details were lost when crushed to 100x100) the best couple of the series: look at them, so much in common poor Chi-chan, friendzoned to the max. Can't get any worse than co-workers I gotta say I found James' torture of her distasteful. Revolting, that bastard clearly doesn't know... that the only torture I find acceptable of girls is "the tickle monster". Ayup, ain't no girl can withstand the tickle monster, not only is it non-invasive, but she becomes very happy and spills the beans, and her revenge meter will be full to the max making her want to so dominate me as payback..... Ahem, my delusions aside, I like Suzuno's hammer I don't know why I'm attracted to hammer girls, maybe it's because I can't help but wonder what's it like to be hit by it, to get struck by it's lovely blunt side... by the way, James is so wrong. She isn't a reaper, she's a super cute sexy sidetail reaper, get your facts straight, man AHEM You all want to know my favorite part this ep? When Emi and Chi-chan were chewing out James with all sorts of namecalling, ah to be verbally abused by two lovelies, I played that scened again and again, ...and again I wanted to see Emi slap Maou, one hand covering her boobies, the other hand meets my cheek faster than a speeding bullet.... |

Now, to avoid misunderstanding I am aware that my vivid romance dream is *not* the focus nor the main genre of the show and I'm perfectly fine with it . But, after Chi-chan's confession AND Maou's realization that he had to seriously face this outcome after her straight confession, events of "nothing" in this regard were a bit stumbling *lol*.
