As long as the annoying whistling is kept to a low like it was in the last OVA, then i'll be pleased with a TV series.

This is great news, I loved the OVA.
I've a question though, why the "Satou Junichi again!" in the title? I checked Wikipedia and I haven't watched anything he's directed (except this of course (Oh, I see NGE there)) so can anyone tell me why he gets such praise? Well, I can hazard a guess having watched this but maybe there's something I'm missing.

Couldn't agree more. Each character having a real distinct personality was great but the whistling was a little annoying.

Are you nuts? Go out there and try Kaleido Star, Umi Monogatari, Princess Tutu, Sailor Moon season 1, Aria series.

The reason why people go gaga over him is that he's pretty much the master of calm, relaxing anime with girls as main characters without any real emphasis on violence, action, the typical tropes many anime fall under. He makes 'girly' anime but in fact they're just calming in nature and universal in themes that anyone can enjoy. He sure knows how to skirt around the tropes of anime all the while making great slice-of-life moments and intermixing interesting characters seamlessly into the mold.

The way he shaped the first season of Sailor Moon is an indicator at his downright legendary way of directing anime.

SuperKnuckles pretty much sums it up. & i'll just say you need to correct this, and watch more of the shows he's directed. Especially the three Aria seasons, Princess Tutu and Umi Monogatari. You'll get a pretty clear view that you've formed yourself as to why he get's so much praise.

Tamayura is far from being one of my favourite Satou Junichi works, though it certainly has his name written all over it. Just enough with the whistling.

I just realised I've also seen Umi Monogatari. I remember enjoying it.
I'll definitely check out some of his other works, thanks for the replies.

While I cannot deny the sheer audacious genius of Princess Tutu, any given day I'd still prefer his more everyday works like Aria and Tamayura than his more psychotropic shows.

Very nice. I liked the OVA's a lot, so I can't wait for the series.

Hopefully after that, Amanchu will be ready for an anime.

Just finished this series.

It's definitely as good, heartwarming, and life-affirming as Aria and Fuu is just adorable.

Really looking forward to the upcoming TV series.

I heard somewhere that the anime's gonna air in the fall. Is that true? If it is, then I'll be insanely happy! A great anime to start off my first year of college!

I just got myself to finish this now that the anime is coming out. I'm really exited for the series, now that we will be getting it. The OVA has probably just the right mood for someone like me. It moved me in so many levels, and I felt so relaxed after watching it. Really I'm sad for all the people that can't enjoy this. And I feel sad at myself for not watching the final episode before

In the Anime Expo of July 2015 it was announced that the Tamayura OVAs were licensed by Nozomi Entertainment and will be released in America in October 2015 on DVD together with the first season of Hitotose.
