Finally we got the set up to our first war.

Unlike the previous season where the main characters are a part of the main army, Haku and Kuon's group are more like mercs so I wonder how they would play a part in this.

Some random thoughts on this episode:

Was the candy seller's name ever revealed in the anime before this episode? I seem to recall their calling him simply by "old man", though apparently Haku knew his name.

Kamunagi is an archaic word for priest(ess), written as simply 巫?

So... what's the point of this series? Will something ever happen or is it supposed to be a slice of life thing?
I didnt watch/play the original btw.

the preview for next episode shows promise of some action/development, and hopefully it's carried through

Lets just say the original series didn't gain sub forum status from being slice of life. It was somewhat more evenly spread out.

Well I certainly enjoyed this episode more than last two weeks. The Kamunagi Twins are... um definitely the oddest characters in the show so far. I can't help but feel from the Emperor's reaction he partly give them to Haku just to screw with him.

The development in the post credits a bit sudden, but I'll take it.

Well if the end of this episode is an indication, yes something is in fact finally happening.

I don't even remember when Haku met the emperor before. Anyone happen to have an episode number handy? I assume it'd have to be in the first couple.

Late to watch. So Munechika went and lied to the emperor about the whole incident, huh. Also, Sakon's reveal came as a much more surprising thing in the game for me because even Nekone didn't know this at first and the cast has had several contacts with him before already.

Anyway, first war scene finally next ep. Should be plenty of action and suspense from here on and I'm looking forward to them.
