You know you watch way too much anime, when...

Hi

I totally forgot about this until now...so, we had a topic named this (it was an old thread, but i could not find it in the forum search, so i guess it was still in 2005). I managed to save all 8 pages' (i think i made this list when no one replied anymore onto the thread) of these jokes into a huge list a while ago. Since it was for personal reasons (show it a few friends etc.), it "only" contains 90-95% of the jokes, cause it was a certain friend mainly and i had to make it PG-13 (well, at least I've tried it...I'm sure there are still some in it...and yes, just quickly watching thru the list, i left some :P). Since it is a pure list, it does not contains the authors, sorry. Anyways, here is the list, in the spoilers tag, since it is long, very long, but it is worth reading it:

Wow that is some long stuff you got there but Yeh, Most of it's true. I'm read about 1/4 then skiped a few but I'll re-read it all in a moment. The one when you said that your mum is a fansubber was quite funny.

Lots of them are just funny, but, uh, some of you might recognize that some of these stuff is actually true about you
(And I repeat, I did not write'em, it is written by lots of AS members...I wrote like 4 in it)

Never tried this but might be true

Oh...thanks.
@nemoleo: That can be an interesting song... Although...imagine yourself playing any anime OP/ED with high volume and rolled down windows... Those faces! Priceless!...

You know you've watched way too many anime:

#when you remember the names of at least 500+ female characters and each of their likes and dislikes, their birthdays, their favorite outfits, etc. (mind you there are some people who are actually like that)

The sad thing is, it's exactly my life. My room has zero "real porn" and hundreds of ero-games, many of which I haven't even played yet.

When you realize that your HD-DVD recorder is all set to anime shows late at night, and when you set your TV-tuner equipped mobile phone to show a certain channel when you are commuting back home in the train.

Your favorite radio program is listening to seiyuu radioshows streaming over the internet.

When you can cite which director, staff, and which seiyuu are in each anime program, and you can do a "guess that seiyuu" when watching an anime for the first time.

Or, when your major objective of a new press release for an anime happens to be "which anime production company, which anime director, and which seiyuu will be doing which character" (Basically, you already know the anime since you've already read or played the game before the initial announcement that it was going to be animated. Hence, you are interested in predicting whether the anime adaptation will satisfy you or not by finding out who will be directing it and who will be voicing which certain characters.)

You end up buying an anime DVDs, only to watch it one time, keep the limited edition goods, and sell it at your local used DVD shop or at Amazon Japan in order to buy more anime DVDs.

Your bed consists of two life-sized dakimakura (hug pillows) from moe~ bishoujo game characters, and your computer desk is lined up with moe~ figurines, so of which costs over USD$800 at Wonderfest.

Your doujinshi collection spans over a decade of Comike.

Your CD collection and songs in your iPod is nothing but limited edition CDs, drama CDs, and anime/ero-game soundtracks.

Your bookcase consists of nothing but light novels and mangas that spans over two decades.

The rundown: You know you watched way too much anime when.... you become like me. It's a warning. Don't degrade yourself to my pathetic level.

If that is true...I think it might be too late for me....
Also Does having reencoded raws onto your video iPod count for the HD-Dvd recorder one?
Another one i thought of:

They tend to just ignore you. Of course, it might be my car's stock sound system.

Anyway, you know you've watched too much anime when:

You're convinced your girlfriend is sick because she has (too much stored magic built up/been turned into a cyborg weapon), rather than just caught a cold.

Your idea of a perfect date involves maid cafes.

You don't consider being called a loli-con an insult.

You have a link in your sig encouraging people to vote for your favorite girl in a recent anime series.

It always happens to me, and it's getting frustrating sometimes.

Back in 2004:
People ask you about Naruto even though you don't know a single freaking thing about Naruto, and then they wonder why you don't watch Naruto since they think all anime fans watch Naruto.

In 2005:
People ask you about Bleach even though you don't know a single freaking thing about Bleach, and then they wonder why you don't watch Bleach since they think all anime fans watch Bleach.

In summary, you know you've watched too much anime when:
# people already think you know everything about anime, and yet you don't know a single freaking thing about the anime 'they' like.

There is another extremity that goes on me towards non-Japanese anime fans:

You don't talk about stuff that is popular, you are already talking about something that will become popular. By the time that becomes popular, you've already moved on to something else. It's somewhat sad to be always one-step-ahead by being able to understand the language that is necessary to read light-novels and ero-games that the anime will be based on. You really can't enjoy and join in the fun.

kj1980 (or anyone interested), just a question:

On the average, how many anime/ero-games do you purchase each year and what are some of the qualities you are looking for in such games?

AFAIK, there are like more than a hundred of these kinds of games released per year. Currently, the games I'm playing right now are Negima (Vols. 1 and 2) and Princess Maker 4.
