It's less about saving Ryner than preventing the hero from devouring him, I think. I really doubt he gives a damn about Ryner himself, but since he's going to invade Roland, it's better for him if Sion doesn't gain some extra powers.

And Ryner has been the main character from day 1. What did you expect?o_O

I guess, in a way, I am fortunate for not reading the novel, since I don't know all the good stuff I am missing and am satified with what I am getting in the anime. On the other hand, they are leaving so much information out that it can get confusing, so it sucks not to read the novels.

Dunno guys, since the recap, this show has become "oh so much more" exciting.

My guess is that they overdid it with politics and shoujo for my tastes in the first two thirds

... and given the last episodes, it needs more Ryner/Ferris, and family; also Kiefer's come back was nice, but I rather see her with R+F, it would be extremely interesting. Claw and the damsel in distress were OK in their arc, but seem too redundant now, Milky has become less annoying, but still does not work out for me ... the worse is the gay-political couple ... it's so boring, they would be better of narrating the whole thing, it would be less annoying.

Anyway, I hope for the final episodes, they focus on the triangle and their struggles, and tone down politics

There's still no news whether they will make 2nd season or not. I think they will make an open ending (like CSR) in case they want to make 2nd season.

I'd love to see Daiden animated, but even I have pretty low hopes for that, with denyuuden being one of the most underrated shows in recent years.

It looks like they're adapting some of the Toriden stories into drama CD format, though. Two of them came with DVD/Blu-ray vol.1, and I think two more are going to be included in Ferris' character CD, coming out in a few days.

i hope they just follow the novels, unlike with CRS, where they screwed it up so much they would have to go through a major patch up if they want to make a second season and still follow the original material...

All that happiness went out at the end when Sion attacked Ryner when they were alone. Using also those augmented mages.

Is episode 23 still an adaptation of the light novel or an original one? because the whole time I got the impression that it's like I'm watching a different series all together. I was just brought back to the series at the near end when a sudden battle starts.

I didn't even saw a single gastalk at this episode.

So last episode didn't get elaborated on. And Sion's intentions seem mucher deeper than anything I could imagine right now. 3 more episodes to go, right? That'll be 3 episodes with lots of information to process I guess (hope).
Anyway, the normal life parts were nice. Actually, too harmonic. That pretty much gives the last scene a huge contrast, and how it transitioned over to the credits without any music at first. Epic impact. It's like in an RPG where your ally and close one turns out to be a final boss.

I think they should have planned this out a lot better, but well, I can also guess it's also rather complicated nowdays when you don't know whether something is going to be successful or not. So, breaking away from the usual 25 episode format may be rather risky, especially when Denyūden is not THAT popular as a LN. Still, that doesn't change the fact they could have done a much better job.

I wish they did what SHAFT did with the last couple episodes of Bake, just put it up later and do just a couple more episodes. This break neck pace is killing me.

I stopped watching the anime until I read this post and Alpha is totally beyond wtf (where the hell they came up with this shit). Ferris vs. Lieral (vs. Lucille; could've sworn Lucille showed his op sword here too) scene was mediocre (where did my badass Lieral go?), and the scene with the woman was rage.png for me. I loved that scene in the novel because it showed how much love there was and yet here the script was pretty bland and there wasn't much the VA could've done about improving it either.

I don't want DaiDenYuuDen if the script was written poorly like this one. Just want to give two big, fat middle-fingers to Itsuro Kawasaki and Kiyoko Yoshimura. Stay away from Kuro Usagi ffs.

In my opinion, stuff like episode 23 were far too few in the actual series itself. Where 'character moments' were more well-rounded and showed stuff beyond their usual 'worrying about war,' even if it almost looked out of character.

I thought the mood whip-lash could had come at least 3 or 4 minutes earlier imo. Felt as if the transition from 'happy birthday' to 'sorry, but imma gonna kill you' is a little too abrupt.
