^ nothing that bad : most gore scenes were shown using stills ... also "something else" about the titans were more or less censored with smokes.

Certainly nobody is eager to see that "something else" that belongs to the titans, right? For that specific case, I should say "bravo censors!".

... err, no. That's not what I meant by "something else", it was just some way to avoid spoiling certain contents of the episode.

Spoiler for Episode 5:

This new spectacle looks amazing, that's where s**t hits the fan where the soldiers kill the titans by cutting the vital point (the neck). Too bad we're left with nothing but despair and worry, ending the episode with Eren presumed to be dead. I really hope the next episode will explain about his past perhaps.

The ONLY thing I can say about this episode is THIS IS WAY BEYOND MY EXPECTATION !!!! and I expected many thing. 10/10

So the colossal titan can actually disappear without trace. I wonder how it did that. but I doubt any anime-only viewer care about that at this point LOL

That face of the giant that ate the braids girl... Seriously, those eyes... What...
It was harder than it should be because those giants were so entertaining to look at. And they jumped...

Anyways, well, protagonist(?) kind of died in the 5th episode. Well, there are anime out there that destroy the world in 3 episodes and entire casts dying in the first.

Woah, this episode kept me on the edge. That colossal titan is not only smart but he's really a teleporter? Perhaps he teleports randomly every 5 minutes and have to wait for the right chance to appear in front of a wall?

And seems like killing off characters begin this episode! Fast! Bye Thomas and braids girl!
For a moment, I was sure that Armin was a goner and wouldn't have been surprised. But anyway, there's no way Eren could have died with all that earlier foreshadowing with his Dad, unless the author is the biggest troll in the world and Armin was the true protagonist. Or Mikasa? Though he probably would have to fight with prosthetics after surviving this.

Regarding the censorship/gore:

The censoring! I knew it was coming, but it's dulling the anime more than I expected. This chapter in the manga is a much more convincing horror. It illustrates exactly how humans are harvested like cattle, down to the gritty butchering and consumption. The gore complements the titans' often comical appearances to instill fear in the reader. When I read AoT it reminded me of the Eclipse chapters from Berserk; it was distinct and unforgettable down to every death. I wish I knew if the Blu-Ray was fully uncensored, I'd stop watching this and buy the Blu-Ray.

Other than that, a good episode. A lot of stills though.
