Well, this is incredibly charming. Picked up for sure. Also, I quite like the idea of a hero who is not OP by himself but rather has to gather the best people around him to reach his goals.

Given that he's three years old, I think I'd have confided in my father at least about the ability. Telling someone you can see floaty number stats about people in our world would get you committed, lol, but the new world is one with magic so I think it wouldn't be quite as hard as one would think to believe. At least then it'd be easier to get him to go along with your decisions, assuming he can be convinced about the ability. If I were writing this, I'd have made Ars like 8 or something. Three is a bit unbelievably young given what we saw; that being a three year old wandering town on his own. I can't believe a three year old could leave the estate alone and you'd think the townsfolk would be like "oh shit, the lord's toddler is alone!" and escort him home before he got hurt.
Also struck me as a bit unrealistic with the skills and peoples' reactions. Like the archer guy. Yea, he may have good latent talent, but it'd still need to be trained. They should've had him shooting near to the center, and maybe have one hit center. Then at the end after the homeless dude (already forgot his name) won his place in the household against the father, the soldiers are all like buddy buddy with him immediately. The racism seemed to be pretty well ingrained in everyone we've seen, so I find it hard to believe that alone would immediately win them over. I'd be quicker to believe they'd be like "I bet it's some dirty trick he pulled!". I'm glad I'm not alone. I saw this and thought ah, a S2 of this show? Cuz I remember the servant dude and chick. I guess it's because I read the manga, but I would've bet money this was a second season not an initial adaptation lol. Last edited by Strahan; 2024-04-07 at 15:18. |

What a way to start a show with the birth of an empire and the MC giving his father a viking funeral !
OP feels typical for this kind of Isekai show with the protagonist and his family/entourage making their way in the world along with some unsavory types they'll inevitably contend with . Sometimes you don't need Truck-kun to reincarnate, all you need is overwork and unhealthy living to make you keel over and die ! But hey, things turned out pretty well for Arc! He's got a cushy life as nobility, is wise beyond his years, a hot mom voiced by Ayako Kawasumi, a stern but supportive dad voiced by Hiroki Tochi, everyone in the village loves him, and plenty of cute maids . Though it also has the drawback that he's inheriting a position in a kingdom fraught with corruption, insurrection, and collapse...meaning he has to use his OP appraisal skill, which lets him see the abilities and potential of anyone but himself, to find the people he needs in his life to succeed. Because what's a lord without retainers ? And who better than a foreigner who just so happens to be the second coming of Oda Nobunaga? Feed him up, instill in him a sense of loyalty, and let him show off his battle potential against your elite warrior father, and you've got a winner . Next week looks like Arc and Rietz chase after a cute blue-haired thief girl...destined to grow up into a beautiful mage woman !

Decent start but I get the impression its going to take the entire season to get back to the viking funeral. I'm not sure how interesting watching him putting his dream team together is going to be.

I'm not even sure if his appraisal skill can be called "OP", it's just a supernatural skill he has. All the rest he has to do with his own personal charm, cunning and social position. So far a refreshing change from the typical "I've just unlocked unlimited magical power OP hax and my large harem!" protagonist, like in the lvl 2 cheat skill isekai over yonder.

I kind of like the opening of this one. Some nice weight with the whole death of the MC's father being shown as the future waiting for him. And honestly the MC dying from a heart attack is pretty simple as far as this sort of thing goes. Didn't even need to get run over!
Also kind of refreshing to have the MC not be broken. His skill is valuable and he's obviously going to use it to great effect. But it's the sort of thing that can't do anything on its own. The end results are of the talents he finds. Plus it's up to him to make use of it. Given to a random person it likely wouldn't result in much. And not being able to use it on himself leaves him needing to rely on others. No answer sheet on his own growth. I like that while his father is gruff, he's clearly a good guy that cares about his son. And makes sense that he was like that considering he reached that point through intense hard work and military accomplishments. Seems like it'll be fun watching him work to find these diamonds in the rough and assemble a group that can truly protect his homeland. And it's a win for those people since they can tap into talents they might otherwise never get to use. It's certainly cheating to a degree and maybe some of them would find their potential working with/for others. But I think the motivation to protect his newfound home is a worthy one.
