As predicted disease is killing the natives, and they're blaming the Nords for it (not an unreasonable conclusion to make) Supposedly there's going to be good news next chapter, I wonder what it's going to be.

They're not wrong though, they're most likely the ones who brought the disease. They just didn't intend to. The end result is still the same, Natives are dying in troves.

The author confirmed in Comicon that he already has plans for a third series but he'll also be busy mentoring one of his sons who wants to be a mangaka.

It's amazing how much father and son commentary Yukimura keeps making everywhere even in his mangas. Reminds me to when Thorfinn had that hallucination with Thors and Askeladd while talking with Leif and said "thanks dad". Felt like the ending of Return of the Jedi which also heavily a father and son conflict. Planetes had some comments though his Okita oneshot definitely not since there wasn't a father to real figure known

I was wondering if Hilde would start the war by killing the shaman or warleader. Luckily Thorfinn's party arrived just in time but I'm just wondering if he's just delaying the inevitable.

Hmm... maybe Thorfinn will voluntarily abandon Vinland in order to avoid the war with the natives? Sounds like something Thorfinn would do, not sure if I'd like it or not.

When I saw the cover I was afraid the chapter would be slow but the pacing was pretty cos we had Thorfinn's familly finally receiving more screentime, Hild's quest, the natives and Thorfinn reaching them. I wonder if this meeting will be the start of the climax of the story arc.

That feels like the only solution at this point. Not just to avoid war but also the further spread of the disease. The Nords are a hazard to the Natives, and they're well aware of it.

Even assuming Thorfinn and his friends all leave alive, what does he intend to do next? My problem with Thorfinn and Yukimura's pacifism is that their solution to every problem is to run away. What happens when you run of places to run to?

Vinland was a pipe dream in the first place, it's not like the Natives didn't war among themselves.

Thorfinn's ancestor are actually with the Joestar bloodline with the secret technique of running away.

To be serious, Thorfinn had mentioned in the farm that he was proud of his predecessors running away to avoid war and now it's repeating. My guess is that while Thorfinn is trying to return to Iceland and avoid war, there are people who actually could create a war though Yukimura has said once that he doesn't want Thorfinn to fight again. He said that in that Animenewnetwork interview when mentioning how much hate he got for Thorfinn no longer being a fighter.

My guess is the peace between the two sides will be decided by an offer and we never learned when the real Thorfinn died.

Vinland was a doomed dream so no surprise that Thorfinn ends up abandoning it. The real question is what he does after they leave. Even assuming that they manage to leave without incident, I can't imagine Thorfinn's group will be too pleased with coming all this way just to be chased out.

Looks like Thorfinn and the others won't even get the chance to properly leave Vinland. The chief can't control his tribe and another tribe is attacking the settlement. All this while Gurdid is giving birth.

I got to say I found myself agreeing with Einar in this chapter.

I hope Ivar smuggled in more swords, because they're going to need them. If they want to survive, they need to fight back.

I thought Einar was too harsh on Thorfinn. The settlement means as much to him as everyone else, he just isn't willing to sacrifice lives for it. Too late, though.

New chapter. Thorfinn is giving me Kira Yamato flashbacks with his comments but it kinda makes sense. He is fighting for the first time in the entire arc in order to escape.
