I anticipated that they don't have much room for SweetP and has to taken care of her arc fast.
But I didn't expect that they'll do it like this.

Though, this is perfect!
The tea party managed to build up the frustration and discomfort very well.
This made Mifue's outburst a lot more striking.
How the reveal was nicely inserted too, and I was wondering how are they going to do that prior to the episode airing.

But too bad it has to ends there without a fight. But I guess they have no choice consider the time restrain.

At first I thought Mifue's loathing of fat people meant that she was actually fat herself, but the goth loli was the fat guy. So going the opposite direction, does that mean Mifue is anorexic? She deleted her very thin mom after all, and it's not unheard of anorexic people started their habits because they hate the idea of being fat.

If so... holy shit, this is really kind of interesting. Replace Persona 4/5's shadow of the heart theme and replace them with an actual disorder. They're in Mobius for 'rehabilitation' and you have our 'heroes' who are trying to go back to the real world, while the 'enemy' are the ones who want to stay in this 'ideal' world. None of the supernatural deity mastermind behind the scenes bullshit, just straight up human vs human ideals.

Directly making the conflict between those who want to stay in the simulation versus those who want to leave really helps it stand out a bit more than what Persona regularly does. From this ep, I guess that everyone went into the simulation to run away from something, so them learning deal with their problems without the clutch of a dream world is probably the endgoal of their character arcs.

3 episodes in and while I have to admit, this is a peculiar series that I want to know more about. The tea party in particular was strange.

On a technical note, I'm starting to get into the music elements of the show.

This show has been surprisingly interesting despite the negative stuff I've read about the game. Even though the premiere was a little silly with the pretentious main character(but I feel there may be a good reason for this) I'm getting into it now, the tea party really was unnerving and the overall atmosphere is fascinating.

Wow, episode 3 went places I wasn't expecting to go. No real confrontation with Sweet-P however was lame, maybe she will be back otherwise this was not best way to have audience take our antagonists seriously.

Naruko takes to being an asshole like fish to water lol. Was she even trying to roast him there?

She's listed as a main character, yes.
The other girl, Marie, is a mystery to me.

The episode is not as good as the other 3.
The art clearly is QUALITY. The confrontation with Shounen Doll is also kinda cramped up.

If they can insert more build up between Suzuna and Shounen Doll in the past three episodes, things could have flow better. Or push this episode to the back and do other musicians first to create some room for build up.

They also didn't point out Suzuna has Lunchmate Syndrome.
Only hinted at it with the bendou.

A Lord of the Rings reference in an anime! This show continues to hold my interest in the oddest ways.

I think what they showed us was more than enough for people to get the idea though.

I think just hinting at Suzuna's problems just works here a bit better. The few flashbacks we saw of her real life and all the talks work pretty well to give you an idea of her problems in real life. Sometimes less is more.

Overall, I liked the episode. I do like how it seems each Musician has their own approach to things, and Doll wanted to try befriending Suzune and kind of seducing her into accepting the simulation.

Need to see more interaction between the Doll and Suzuna in future

Is this show worth watching for someone who has never even heard of the game before? I just realized that Takeuchi Shunsuke is in it, and that man's voice is like chocolate to my ears... so I wonder if I should invest in watching the show, or just get the songs when they come out. (Yes, I'm very shallow and easy to please.)

Just buy the songs when they come out. This is just me basing my opinion from comments I've seen you make on the board over the years, but I get the feeling this is the type of show that wouldn't really interest you. Unless you really turn the cynical/jaded side of your brain off. (I of course may be very wrong about that.) But, Hosoya Yoshimasa is also in this, so you know, it might just be worth watching for you for both him and Takeuchi. (Who I'm also here for, an as an aside, if you haven't you should check out Spirit Pact, I think season two is better than season one, Takeuchi gets to talk more, and you know all the BL vibes. )

Haha, thanks, I'll take that advice (both!). Your assumption is not wrong at all, I wrote off this show as not my cup of tea right away - but then someone drew my attention to the casting and it was kind of an "oh?" moment.

Takeuchi only sings in the OP, so there really is not much to invest in if you are here just for him.
As for the show itself. If you are not into social psychology, you can just skip it all together. The story is written by an expert of this field who is really trying to make a point on this subject.
This show is trying to send out psychological messages and smashing you with various psychological impact than trying to be an entertainment.

Episode 4 was decent, if not once again slightly anti-climatic in it's resolution due to the pace. This episode went farthest in establishing what has been going. Only two members left to introduce and looks like Ritsu's friend is among the group of the next musician's entourage.

I guess Shounen Doll is that one member of musicians who rarely show up that was mentioned last week.
