I do wonder though. It would BE a selling point if in a few years, Loki gets replaced by an actress.

Damn. How has the Norse pantheon not become the source material for a genderbent fanservice anime like Ikkitousen, or a subtly yaoi gag anime like Hetalia Axis Powers by now?

Thor dressed as Freyja to get Mjölnir back in Þrymskviða.
Odin dressed as a female healer as part of his efforts to seduce Rindr.
Hagbard in the Scandinavian legend of Hagbard and Signy (the Romeo and Juliet of the Vikings). After having slain Signy's brothers and suitors, Hagbard was no longer welcome in the hall of Signy's father Sigar. Hagbard then dressed up as one of his brother Haki's shieldmaidens to gain access to the chambers of his beloved. When the handmaidens washed his legs, they asked him why they were so furry and why his hands were so calloused. He responded with a clever verse to explain his strange appearance. Signy, however, who understood that it was Hagbard who had come to see her, explained to the maidens that his verse was truthful. Hagbard was, however, deceived by the handmaidens and he was arrested by Sigar's warriors. Hagbard was hanged and Signy committed suicide as Hagbard watched from the gallows.
Frotho I dressed as a shieldmaiden in one of his eastern campaigns.
Hervor from Hervarar saga. When Hervor learnt that her father had been the infamous Swedish berserker Angantyr, she dressed as a man, called herself Hjörvard and lived for a long time as a Viking.

IIRC, Loki also tricked his half-brother once into believing he was pregnant.

LOL, maybe I should open a "Thor 2" thread just for these posts...

Crossdressing Thor does count as speculation, right?

And for those who haven't watched "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" on the Captain America specials, he's actually quite bad ass.

I rather like him. It's characters like him working in the background, that allow the likes of Tony Stark to have time to attend parties or disappear into his workshop for weeks. There was a time when superheroes stop burglars and bank robbers, but these days not even regular terrorism get their attention any more. It is either Super Villain or nothing. So people like Colson pick up the slack.

Wow, just realised that Australia is getting the movie early. So in about 14 hours after I post this, I should be watching this film. I thought I was reading the movie poster wrong. But guess I should be used to it by now, as nearly all recent Marvel movies got released in Australia first.

Soooo lucky Valiant!

I'm really excited for this film, especially after seeing how well it's doing with the critics already (97% on RT with 28 fresh and 1 rotten)! The trailers made it look like so much fun and it seems like everyone agrees that it is. I started preparing for it by watching Thor - I've seen Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and know Captain America's story, so I assume I'm ready to see Avengers I'm going to try going on opening day - plus the TDKR trailer will come attached with this. WIN.

Oh, just to add, I will be watching the 2D version. I have decided, ever since Clash of the Titans, that I will never again watch post-production fake 3D. (Transformers 3 was an accident. I didn't realise the robots were fake 3d until I paid for the film.)

Ughh, I still can't find Thor on any of my TV stations. It's the last one I need to see.

Oh hell yes we're getting it early.

No 3D for me, though--I'm already wearing glasses.
