I liked the campaign, but the ending just didn't seem right to me.

Spoiler for Ending:

In which case it would be a bittersweet ending, instead of one with a measure of closure and continuation.

Highly improbable. They'll probably create an alternate universe set in modern times (not MW timeline) or they'll settle for a new threat (China? North Korea?) with a new cast. I just hope they won't go the Ghost Recon way, with their Future Force Warrior interpretation - I'd rather they stick to current hardware and timeframe.

Assuming they go for a COD Modern Warfare release every year rather than every other year.

Theres already one pretty much confirmed for next year.

The article regarding it is somewhere on kotaku but from what I remember the head guy at activison tweeted that there would be more call of duty come 2012.

Spoiler for The end.:

it's new to me since I never really played MW2 besides the campaign at a friend's house

I mean seriously, I know Russians are tough but no one should be able to survive all that let alone stand up.

Spoiler for A few wrong sightings.:

@Roger Rambo: I heard Activision and Treyarch aren't separating the CoD games anymore. We'll be seeing two CoD games per year just like before, I'm guessing.

"If u like MW3 go 2 Metacritic.com & help our user score," Schofield tweeted in a message now erased, says Industry Gamers. "It's suspiciously low. Be honest but help if u agree."
Doesn't sound all that bad, true you'll get people that might just go give it a 10 or whatever just because he asked (same as you'll get folks giving it a 0, last I heard it was 3.2), and he was hoping for a more positive spin. But I can't really blame them since it's not as bad as what some have done in the past.

TBH, Metacritic is a POS that needs to die a most fiery death.

I saw TotalBiscuits 'first thoughts' video the other day and he didn't really seem all that impressed. I'd have to say some of the issue he brought up were quite valid - not that I can remember them off the top of my head, something about lazy design and reusing art from the previous game. Other issues didn't sound like it would be much of a concern though.

Agreed that Metacritic isn't at all reliable and needs to seriously get lost. Still, I like how desperate he got over something like a user review score. The internet's full of trolls and will give a bad review if it's the "in" thing, which is easily proven over the terribly low score it was given by the people.

Truth is, it's not a terrible game, it just wasn't touched upon enough to make it a brand new $60+ purchase. It's like they slapped on a few new protagonists, incorporated a few new guns and special effects, and then spent the rest of the time swinging their arms wildly and jumping about the office making chimpanzee noises.

As what I hopefully consider to be a fair reviewer, I say: "You're going to have to try harder than that to keep that best selling franchise title, Call of Duty."

I like to think that they got sick of having to fight their way past the piles of money blocking their office doors.

Yeah that's about what I heard too.
