Theres already one pretty much confirmed for next year.
The article regarding it is somewhere on kotaku but from what I remember the head guy at activison tweeted that there would be more call of duty come 2012. Spoiler for The end.:

Spoiler for A few wrong sightings.:
@Roger Rambo: I heard Activision and Treyarch aren't separating the CoD games anymore. We'll be seeing two CoD games per year just like before, I'm guessing.

TBH, Metacritic is a POS that needs to die a most fiery death. I saw TotalBiscuits 'first thoughts' video the other day and he didn't really seem all that impressed. I'd have to say some of the issue he brought up were quite valid - not that I can remember them off the top of my head, something about lazy design and reusing art from the previous game. Other issues didn't sound like it would be much of a concern though.

Agreed that Metacritic isn't at all reliable and needs to seriously get lost. Still, I like how desperate he got over something like a user review score. The internet's full of trolls and will give a bad review if it's the "in" thing, which is easily proven over the terribly low score it was given by the people.
Truth is, it's not a terrible game, it just wasn't touched upon enough to make it a brand new $60+ purchase. It's like they slapped on a few new protagonists, incorporated a few new guns and special effects, and then spent the rest of the time swinging their arms wildly and jumping about the office making chimpanzee noises. As what I hopefully consider to be a fair reviewer, I say: "You're going to have to try harder than that to keep that best selling franchise title, Call of Duty."
