I'd say its down to the hairstyles than anything else.

Number 4 is too styled, 1-3's are too standard/boring, 6's is too neat and tidy.

So number 5 probably pops out more because its rough and rebellious for lack of a better word.

If you where to give them all number fives hair style (even in dark shades or colours) people would have a harder time choosing.

They should just do what they did for male Shepard and model the character after a real person, an actor or model that looks believable as Shepard, instead of this since it just seems like each picture is just fitting to a different stereotype/trope

It almost looks as though they did.

There actually close up pics out there as well which show a little more detail of the faces.

You can thank the more immature members of the Halo and Call of Duty community for that. It's not representative of the X-Box community as a whole of course, but then such claims never are.

Like wow, this PC Gamer writer is butthurt that #5 is winning that she wrote this article.
What's even worse than the people picking choice number 5 (which I also picked) are internet "journalists" that feel the need to generalize blondes as some sort of "sexy" pick. I didn't pick number 5 for any appeal other than that she looked like the best choice. She doesn't look bland or devoid of detail like the other 5 choices. Whoever wrote this article really needs to be evaluated by their boss, as this article is extremely unprofessional and childish.

I don't like any of the Shepards they posted, as I mentioned already. They all look too tarted-up, it's just unrealistic and breaks suspension of disbelief. Shepard's not going to have time to even breathe with the Reapers ruining Earth's shit, much less fix her hair or put on makeup.

The buzzcut-Shepards actually do look the best, and I think the redhead buzzcut looks the most appropriate of the bunch, but none of them really do it for me. I'm just too attached to my custom Shepard, even with her bad textures and generic haircut.

But yet Shepard has the time to go to club for drinks and dances .

Not related to blonde Shepard. But it features krogans:

Bioware put out the demo for DA2 a few weeks before it went for sale.

Why are people so fixated on squad armour customization? I much prefer them having one set of pretty armour (or catsuit) than changing between a bunch of fugly ones. Also, too much work for me and for the devs.

Don't you know? Keeping a model appearance is one of the basics of SPECTRE training.

Can't have a super representative of the council looking shabby in a paparazzi snap.

Exactly. The Turian councilor wouldn't give the 'Ah yes... Reapers" speech if Shepard actually showed up looking all snazzy and credible like a real Spectre.

I'd rather them have armor that actually looks like it'd protect them from being shot.

Miranda's catsuit bugs the hell out of me. This isn't No One Lives Forever.

Miranda's armor in the second appearance DLC is a lot more fitting since its similar to the N7 suit.

Spoiler for Pic:

Shame it wasn't in the game to begin with.

I wouldn't really mind squad customization but its unlikely to ever feature so as long as they keep the unlock-able alternate appearances I'll be happy.
