The suit looks magnificent. I hope it has the yellow S on the cape though.

DC's getting rid of those in their September reboot/revitalization/re-whatever.

Zack Snyder eh? That means the next super suit will be skin tight showing Supe's abs of steel.

Despite the title of the film, does anyone know if the origin story is strictly following Byrne's The Man of Steel or if Waid's Birthright will be used at all? Or is it some collaboration of the two origin stories?

That is one of the worst hairstyles I've ever seen for 'Superman.' This doesn't look encouraging at all.

Guess you have to ask Nolan Brothers for that. No one knows the movie's origin story (yet) at this point.

Yes. This movie is looking worse and worse because he doesn't have the right hairstyle.

Well it doesn't help that David Goyer wrote the script and Zack "I just direct 90 minute long slow motion music videos" Snyder is directing.

They're certainly scraping the bottom of the barrel for comic book directors these days.

After the mullet, every hair style Superman had just doesn't cut it IMO ...

I don't think anyone really knows whether this movie will be a full on origin story a la Batman Begins, or will it be simply Superman's first adventures, though I think they might incorporate from The Man of Steel (or at least I hope so, since it's the only Superman Origin story I don't consider to be a useless rehash) to cover where did he come from.

Then again, since none of comic book movies really adapt the stories faithfully, I suppose this indicates this would barrow different elements from each story of his and mash them together to create something with the same effect.

^I love the mullet . It made no sense, and it was awful for his secret identity, but there's nothing that says "Thank God I'm back from the dead" like a mullet .

The mullet was, in all honesty, glorious to behold. Yeah some artiest went a bit far by making it a full fledged lion's mane at times, but man did it look good ...

And Superman's secret identity was already paper thin (glasses? really?) so it didn't really matter. Hey, just cause Clark Kent decided to grow his hair the same time Superman did doesn't mean their the same right? sometimes you just grow your hair

Right that's true, but that doesn't mean that Snyder has to. I'm hoping them keep them. I think it would just unusual without them.

As controversial as his directing is, Zack Snyder is very capable of making good movies. However, as a fan of the 1978 Superman film, I'm unsure if he is an appropriate director for the new Superman film. Because I've never read the darker Superman comics, my image of Superman is of a very idealistic and traditional superhero series. If we get a 'grimdark' film of Superman, it better be good. And I'm really liking the promo picture so far.

At least this doesn't look as pointless as the Spiderman remake.

Lol don't get me started. :0

I'm not a fan of Snyders movies though and I don't think Henry Cavill looks all that great in the Superman suit >.> Dean Cain (from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), George Reeves and Chris Reeve are the only ones that do it for me. Not so sure if i'll see this one. I'll wait on the teaser trailer before I make any decisions.

Superman's mullet was okay for a while, but I'm glad they got rid of it before it wore out it's welcome.

Some new images of Superman's outfit, which IMO, looks pretty damn great (so glad they did away with the red underwear, that shit was so childish and ugly). And for those fretting about the lack of cape, it's removable so Cavill can walk around on set easier and practice his choreography.

^I'm pretty sure the costume change is inspired by the new Superman/Justice League/Action Comics series that DC is unveiling this year which has Supes dropping the red tights in favour of a simple red utility belt…then again, the opposite could be true as well. Whatever the case, I’m also happy the red tights have been dropped (pun not intended).
