TV anime 'Vlad Love' announced by director Mamoru Oshii.

Coming Spring 2020.

The new anime will be a slapstick comedy centering on a vampire girl named Mai and a high school girl.

We’re pretty much at the point where even big names have to do cute girls variants to get anything funded without a death struggle now. Just the sad reality.

Maybe he should do a Gundam anime to tell his story. Less pressure to focus on cute girls. The only thing he needs to do is to feature at least one Gundam in the show. Other than that, it's more or less total freedom to do what you want as long as you can pitch your idea well and sell it. Nagai & Okada did it.

Then again, maybe Oshii is in the mood to have a cute girl for his story. Who knows?

Just because it's a huge departure from his usual works doesn't mean he's doing it because he can't do what he truly wants. Maybe he just wants to try his hand at a completely different genre.

Oshii is so talented this one is a suprise, the name give a clue but anything from him will be very good

Indeed. Like I said previously, Oshii might just be in the mood for cute anime girls again considering he was responsible for this (back in 1981)...



...which arguably one of the anime titles that triggered the "cute anime girls"-craze.

Oshii was also the one who started the anime OVA trend with his Dallos.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this is not common, right? That kind of company sponsor anime.
