Oh yeah I forgot about that one. That's definitely some Okada-style melodrama that she'd no doubt turn up to 11.

Recent Magi adaptation is really mind blowing, in a bad way

well, Nisekoi isn't your shounen-battle manga like Magi or Ao-Ex (yet) though

Well here's a surprise for you , this will be a SHAFT anime with shinbo directing.

I have no idea what to expect now

edit: though maybe my dream scenario will come true and we get a single cour with anime original ending? If I see someone doing that it's shinbo.
And I guess we could see an increase in fanservice compared to the manga?

I have to say that SHAFT animating it picked my interest in the adaptation.

SHAFT adapting a Weekly Shounen Jump manga?

That's unexpected.

I cannot imagine Shaft adapting a Shonen Jump manga and be directed by Shinbo. I just hope they'll use the more traditionnal animation style like in Madoka Magica and Denpa Onna rather than the overly artsy style like in Monogatari, but I'll still watch it regardless.

Is Monogatari split-cour or will Shinbou be working on 2 series which will run at the same time?

I don't think nisekoi is confirmed for 2013, could be a 2014 show?

Someone should really remake this image without Menma

Well he has adapted a Weekly Shounen Magazine manga (Negima) so it's not "that" unexpected. Anyway this means we'll definitely get sequels if it's a hit, one thing SHAFT does right is they pump out the sequels.

After Bake would he do that? After all he did say....

Shinbo: The reason that I need to contact a lot with original creator is to make animation that even original fans can watch. There is no meaning if I make animation that producer wants. If original one is selling 50000, first we need to think how to satisfy that 50000 fans. We also must include the elements that can bring first-timer fans. If we can't do that, there's no meaning of making that animation.

That's interesting,I was basing my comment on the fact that his negima TV adaptation was different from the manga but that quote makes me wonder if he'd still do it that way today.

What should be interesting as well is SHAFT's take on the manga's trademark facial expressions.

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

Also makes me wonder if we can throw the vomic cast out the window? If I remember right Sasami-san's TV cast was different from the drama CD.

With his new found "respect" for existing fans since Bakemonogatari (and well Vampire Bund flopping like an Cleveland Cav early draft pic) as well as "intent" from Shueisha to push Nisekoi (if Medaka got 2 one cour series, I'm sure this will at least equal that), I'm sure it will be faithful "enough".

SHAFT's idiosyncratic style might work in this, given the over-the-top comedy at times. I'm just hoping they execute the myriad of expressions of the characters well; that's all I ask for.

Never expected Shaft to animated Nisekoi. Welp, I'll have to watch this after all. Hope they'll assemble a good voice cast and do justice to the reaction faces.

TBH I never thought that Nisekoi to be a Shaft, nor a Shinbo styled work for them to animate. Never did expect them to do a straight up harem romcom Jump title.
