You might be underestimating the speed of shunpo. Kageroza also wasn't expecting his regai version of Mayuri to betray him. So that no doubt created a very big opening. As we've seen in Bleach on countless occasions, it takes all but a second for a character to shunpo behind an opponent and stab them in the back. So it's plausible Kageroza would not have had enough time to ask himself the question you proposed on top of arriving at an answer in time to defend against Mayuri's attack.

considering mayuri was mad enough to replace all his internal organs with fakes (again - why do soul reapers even have organs if they're technically dead...) i wouldn't be surprised if he even teamed up with his regai or something. you know. for science.

wow, awesome episode .. that team deathmatch was just one of the finest battle scenes in the series IMHO (even if short)

+ we were again graced by the Supreme Sexiness of Yoruichi

and Kurotsuchi - magnificient as ever, you go dawg ^^

do wonder what happened to the omakes though .. and Yama-jii ^^

Really often times it isn't funds. It's just whether the animators have any real strong drawing skills and how well the movement is coordinated and thought out.

as much as i hate to admit it, kurotsuchi will probably get owned next epidsode.
Ichigo has yet to have his "I-will-save-everyone-because-gotei13-are-incompetent-bossfight"

I always thought unohana was a pacifist... otherwise she will lose all my respect for never helping out in battle before as she is told to be such a strong fighter.

you're right, that was another episode. I'm still sticking with my idea that she is a pacifist because of the terrible thing she has seen on the battlefield

she is a healer I think .. priority = heal

of course she can kick major ass as well, prly 2-nd strongest captain after Yama, but she prefers healing & non-violent

By the way I love nice amount of blood compared even to original manga material. Of course can't be compared to SS arc, but still it's a minor plus.

I'm sorry, but in 3 entire years (18 months of totally dropping the series), this episode was the first in ages that made me wanna desperately see the next ep.

Not only that:
YORUICHI GOT SOME FREAKING AIRTIME FOR ONCE!!!

Ichigo should just continue to do what he's good at doing, being more or less death (or at near death) and stay out of the series.

To be honest, captains alone truly rock this show.
Am I the only one's who's enjoying this story concept 1000 times more than the entire longwinded Aizen arc and the 40 eps of "final" battles?
