Episode synopsis:
The source of the spark that has been smoking throughout the city has turned into mayhem swallowing the city of Ikebukuro. The fight between the Dollars and Toramaru, Aoba pulling the strings from behind the scenes, Varona violently attacking her prey, Celty chasing after the kidnapped Akane, Shizuo continuing to escape, all the while Izaya is overlooking the mass confusion. And then they continue to wait. As throughout all the crisis, Mikado gives his answer… Spoiler:

Poor spoiler Vorona and Izaya though....
I think that they both underestimated their opponents a bit. However, I am also glad to see Akane being more understanding about Shizou. I also feel bad for Mikado as well...with all the responsibility he is carrying on his shoulders. Curious to see what other roles Akane will play later on as well as how Izaya will deal with what he just had to go through. I also wonder if Vorona and Celty will cross path again like they did in this episode finale. Solid conclusion to this cour.

An all out fight with no end in sight.
Even Shizuo showed up in his usual manner. And stumbled upon kidnapped Akane.. Things fell into place nicely. Anri-chan getting harassed was ROFL Everything got explained. Wtf, is Mikado developing a personality disorder? Who knew he could be scary when he wanted to. Guess he grew a lot as well. Can't wait to watch Chapter 2 this summer!!

LOL Shizuo came to the conclusion it is Izaya's fault. Shizuo seems to have triggered Akane's flag... That's not good if we use Seiji and Shinra as example of kids that got involved with supernatural and fell in love with it.
Celty's very confused about those two relationship. Ah Varona or Russian Leeroy Jenkins you think it is going to be fun and games but the Yakuza show up to deliver you to your father. Anri well she got compared to Shakugan no Shana with the katana and red eyes by Walker. Mikado... You are a nice guy but you are a bit of a psycho yourself. Aoba I don't think you know what you got yourself into. Izaya you really though tyou were safe? You got shanked for interfering somebody else's manipulations. Chikage only you are crazy enough to get involved in a cat fight. Then again you have a harem. Surprise it was Akane's dad that ordered the hit. Yodagiri was going to use that and his daughter against him. |

Honestly, all the fighting stuff flew over my head; didn't care about it at all(esp since the animation is subpar here).
Loved the Shizuo moment; he really shined more than usual with breaking the kidnapper's arm and going after Vorona/Sloan to get Akane back. That was a nice little moment between them after he saved her. Can't see them being romantically inclined though(least, not yet =03). Loved the AnrixErika moment <3! So kawaii~. Erika and Walker are always enjoyable to watch when they are on-screen. Mikado finally realizes how much of a tool he has been this entire time. With no motivations to do anything outside his ordinary life, how could he even hope to be truly in the world he wanted to live in? Surprised he actually had the balls to stab someone with a pen without hesitation. Chikage really woke him up to the reality of his situation. Hopefully we'll get to see this so-called "dangerous" side of him that everyone seems to say he has, since up to this point, he's been a bland, boring character that has no power. Will be expecting good things from him. As for Vorona, I thought she was, like, the best of the best; at least good enough that a single yakuza could take her down...well, I guess those two yakuza were on a whole other level, at Dennis/Simon level(and even they don't want to mess with Shizuo D0=). If someone doesn't mind explaining what happened in this Vorona deal, I'd appreciate it. Dunno if its my mind getting dull, I'm getting old, or simply uninterested in events revealed that led to this, but I didn't quite follow what happened =0(. Are you kidding me!? They both tried to screw with people for their own selfish desires, regardless of who they hurt. They got exactly what they asked for. Especially Izaya. He had it coming to him since season 1.

It look like things didn't end well with Vorona and Izaya, meanwhile Mikado accept the deal, he seem like 2 different people between stabbing Aoba and bringing him first aid.
Shizuo saved Akane, gaining a loli, which it seem Celty doesn't understand.

To be honest this episode was unsatisfactory as ending. Sure everything got resolved, but how the hell should I survive until July with only this much closure?. Otherwise everything was awesome. Celty-Shizuo make great team as always, Simon was creepy, Mikado well he ruined moment. Anri-Erika... I will be in my bunk....

Vorona and Slon kidnap Akane who is the daughter of their business associate in Japan. Dad gives preferential treatment to Awakasu so they would spare his daughter. |

Up until now, I had thought the seasons would consecutively air. I was so disappointed when the "Broadcast starts in July" showed up.
This episode seemed to mark the turning point for Mikado's character. Nothing will ever be the same for him anymore. I can see him heading down a very dark path. Shizuo was amazing in this episode as usual. Loved his declaration he was leaving the dollars and his rescue of Akane (loli GET!). He proved once again that despite being human, he's more of a monster than the actual monsters are. Varona was way in over her head trying to take him on. Izaya finally got his just deserts. Though "just deserts" isn't exactly appropriate since this is nowhere near enough to make up for his sinister actions. He obviously isn't going to die, and will probably come back more cunning than ever. Looking forward to that. Izaya is the type of character I love to hate.

Given Shinra's dad got wind of Ruri it would not surprise if he has dealings with Nebula as well. Given how for a moment Shiki thought Hollywood killed his men I think Ruri's serial killing may not be random. Yodagiri had Akane kidnapped so he can have leverage on Awakasu as well as blackmail on the murders. Thing is Izaya ruined all of his opportunities by getting Shizuo involved. |

Ok, now that was probably my favorite episode so far.
Izaya gets what he had coming after manipulating and messing with so many lives. Gets a good reminder that not everyone will come after him in the same obvious way as Shizuo. If he wants to take risks like that then he should be prepared for the consequences. People aren't chess pieces, they can strike back at the person trying to play with them. There was some dark stuff to be sure, but also some entertaining moments. Shizuo going after Varona was great. Mostly because he had to pull some insane stuff in order to actually close the gap. Kicking a car along like a soccer ball to use it like a shield . Just seeing Varona unable to do much of anything against him and Celty providing the last save making sure she couldn't shoot him in the eye or anything. The Shizuo and Celty combo is unstoppable . There was also that little cute scene with Shizuo and Akane which was odd, but kind of nice . Overall a good episode.

Noooooooooooooooooo final episode of DRRRx2 Shou.
Just when things were getting super interesting, we have to wait the excruciating three month wait now. Noooooooooooooooooox2 Also, holy crap Akabayashi (the badass Yakuza w/ cane) was Kappei!? We're so used to hearing Kappei as high-pitched bishounen (Arslan) or gag character (like Usopp), I never imagined him pulling off this low-pitched scruffy badass voice. If someone didn't tell me it's Yamaguchi Kappei, I would never have guessed! Normally you wouldn't expect mere yakuza to be more badass than trained assassins, but we're talking about DRRR bukuro here. Even a highway cop is a monster in this town, of course yakuzas would be full of monsters.
