Ha, asking that here is like going onto the set of ESPN and asking if you should get into watching sports.

But as for your question, YES. There are a ton of great manga's you are missing out on, and as you said some anime's that you probably have watched have so much more material.

The thing about manga that ends up being a double-edged sword, so to speak, is that they don't have a set run, unlike (most) anime. This means that they can flesh out a story more, have details that anime glosses over, etc... at the price of having a lot of chapters (see Naruto and One Piece for example) Also, it takes a shorter amount of time to read manga than it does to watch anime (well, I suppose that depends on your reading speed)

Reading manga is alot different than watching anime, it would be hard to explain the difference since they could share the same story or change the story a bit different

Onani master Kurosawa might be extreme for starting out... although the first manga I read was Lilim Kiss, I would advise starting with some classic shounen material such as Rurouni Kenshin (the anime is also quite awesome, at least the older anime), Great Teacher Onizuka (aka GTO), and a lot of other stuff than has been in either Shounen Magazine or Shounen Jump
