I've been watching the anime until the end of episode 25...

No, there are no episodes after episode 25.

There is a much longer manga story - currently being published in English by someone or other (just check the manga section of your local bookstore or any online anime or book store). It may even still be ongoing in Japanese too. The TV series only dealt with half, if that, of the original Berserk storyline. And even that 'half' is a misnomer because much was cut out even of what they did show (just take a look at the first volume of manga and you'll see). I haven't read the manga, so I can't really tell you anything of what happened, except that:

So that those who have not seen it can steer far clear. Talking about the last episode is the definition of spoilers - you can't get any more spoiler than that, and 'Possible Spoilers' is pretty misleading.

get the manga, actually get the whole manga series including those covered in the anime. The anime buthered many great scenes in the manga. It's still great anime, but nowhere nearly as absolutely awesome as the manga.

Yeah massive plot spoilers!!!

Time for the overview...

Spoiler:

Starting off where the TV series stops, Griffith raping Caska. Of note is the fact that Caska, at this point, is pregnant with Guts' child. When Griffith rapes her he pollutes the unborn child turning it into a demon. It seems all are done for within the festival, outside the festival, Zodd the Immortal is standing guard over the rift that is the entrance. He is waiting for his enternal enemy, the Skull Knight, to arrive as he does whenever the festival occurs.

The Skull Knight arrives, he and Zodd face off in a minor battle. The Skull Knight, more interested in Guts than fighting against Zodd, quickly breaks past Zodd and enters the rift (In the manga the Skull Knight has met and talked with Guts a number of times, this does not happen in the television series). The skull Knight kills alot of the monsters at the festival, grabs Caska and Guts then flees with them to safety.

In the television series you see Ricther at the encampment when it is attacked, however it is not known if he survives or not. In the manga he does and as a twist of fate ends up apprentancing under the blacksmith you see working Guts' sword in the first episode. The skull Knight leaves Guts and Caska in Ricther's care and leaves to do whatever he does in his free time (which seems to be killing apostles).

Because of the brands on their bodies, Caska and Guts are forced to live in an enchanted fairy cave near the Blacksmith's shop. Evil creatures cannot enter the cave and it proves to be the only place Guts and Caska can live without falling under constant attack by monsters. After the ordeal Caska is mentally damaged, she wont speak or eat and is afraid of everything and everyone including Guts. This angers Guts, understandably, and he lashes out and sets out to kill the apostles one by one until Griffith shows himself again.

By this time Caska has had her child, it was born really prematurely, I believe that it even appears before Guts once during the first episode of the television series. However, as it is demonic, it lives on and keeps trying to return to it's mother but can't. Caska seems to only want her child back, so one day while Guts is away killing she escapes from the cave and wonders off to find her child. When Guts returns and finds her missing he runs off to find her as she would not be able to survive a monster's attack in her current state.

The story continues further and in much more detail but now at least
you know how they escaped, roughly, and what direction the story is
headed in, roughly.

I just finished Episode 25 and Caska was wrapped around in Giffiths arms after he was reborn. It shows Guts being held down and all of that made to watch. Then it ends with a flashfoward to Guts leaving with a new sword he just made.

I know what happens right after that - he goes and kills that serpent guy. It is in the first episode. I do not assume though that the serpent is Griffith. The serpent actually made an apearance somewhere near episode 20 when Griffith was still in prison.

So I am just confused. It does not explain how Guts got out of that place. It also does not show an actual ending to the anime. Am I missing something? Dont even know if Caska is still alive and Guts going to save her, although i asume she is dead now.

same here! i was soooooooooo confused... man...ep 26 is just like one big flashback and doesn't explain anything!! guess ill have to read the manga to understand what happened?

The end of the anime is by no means the end of the story of Berserk. Your questions would be answered in the manga, which goes on much further than the anime and is still in continuation now.

I highly recommend you read the manga. Im actually glad it ended like it did now because it started my manga addiction, but since I watched the anime first at the end I just went from

to

. The characters and storyline are so much deeper and darker in the manga and alot of events and characters were cut for the anime.

And yes you really need to read the manga if you enjoyed berserk (its being scanslated by *a group* but I wont tell you which since its liscensed (although dark horse wont catch up for a LOOONG time) you'll have to find it yourself.)

The manga features a few characters and events that happen during the story arc featured in the anime that were left out, such as the skull knight as well as continuing the story. It's a shame that the anime ended where it did, since IMO after the eclipse (where the anime ends) is where it gets good.

If you want to see what he looks like, you can go to any online anime store and look in their Berserk figurine/models section. There was a Berserk toyline released a while ago and there was a Skull Knight figure in that line. And also dude, your post should be covered in spoiler tags. >_< Or at the very least, you should put something in the thread title stating that it pertains to the very last episode. Kiro chocolate overdose Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Germany/Berlin Age: 41	Spoiler: a while ago, just out of curiosity i downloaded a scanlation of the latest manga-volume (it was something with trolls) and caska was alive at that point. so i guess, she made it out alive as well but how and what that skull knight has to with it, i don't know.

And in the rift Skull Knight tried to attack Void without success before grabbing Guts and Caska. And Guts really wanted to kill his child...

Anyway, to expand a bit on what sepirath said Spoiler for after the anime ends: The skull knight breaks into the eclipse and rescues Guts and Caska. All the hawks are dead, with the exception of Guts, Caska and Rickert (the kid). Griffith is a evil bastard, but doesn't make to much of an appearance for a few volumes. Caska has lost her memory (as well as her ability to talk, etc). After a couple of events, Caska disappears, and Guts goes off to look for her, meeting some new companions on the way.
