Honestly I'd like to anime to cover the events around Class VII where Rean wasn't present, specifically the field studies of Group B.

While that would be interesting in it's own way, I think a character or a cast of characters to focus the cour on would flow better narratively compared to a series of loosely connected events without the necessary in between context. It feels like it would be disjointed even if players of the game could understand and follow along.

Would be nice if they also not including the crappy bonding element from the game and make validation of characters pairing which not listed "Rean name" like Crow x Towa but that unlikely right?

Huh, nice. Falcom story with anime adaptations is not stellar, but then again we only have one sample to draw from. Expectations are moderate, but I really want this to succeed given how much I love the Trails universe.

They can't include specific bonding events because it effectively makes canon whoever they choose to focus on, and that's enough to cause a war bigger than Cold Steel 4.

Also we know already that Fie/Laura are best girls so it makes no sense to animate bonding events.

^Well, to be fair, his life is shit, so having some gary stu moments is the least he can have.

Well the main character is not called the Ashen Headpatter for nothing. Lloyd (the MC for the previous saga) was already one pretty huge unintentional ladies man but Rean (the MC for this) is oh so much worst.

I think the main criticism this game has is that they added in a lot of school romcom moments into it which left all the characters (but especially the girls) feel like their whole character development revolved around the MC in a very unnatural way. I think that's mostly where the Gary Stu comments come from. MC just has a massive harem going on around him and is mostly clueless in typical romcom MC fashion.

Hopefully the anime manages to break that a bit and lets the characters be their own characters instead of everything revolving around the MC again.

As a member of said fanbase, a way of qualifying it from the inside is that the trails series is a long ongoing series with 10 games so far that are all connected story-wise (Trails in the sky + trails from zero/ao + trails of cold steel). By virtue of being that long so-called fans will be very heavily invested in the series. How people express that investment changes person to person, but you will definitely see maladjusted people who react poorly to things, like in every fanbase.

Personally I would be very happy to see more people liking it, since I think it is really good and, personally speaking, the best JRPG series out there. It does have its problems, like people mentioned trails of cold steel in particular has some romcom like scenarios that are not everyone's cup of tea, but it does have a super-b long epic to compensate for this fact.

I;m not sure what I wanted to say but I'm definitely looking forward to where the series is going

I'm definitely hoping they take a page from their own book regarding what they did with Tokyo Xanadu EX, where they added scenes between every chapter having the supporting cast solve problems between themselves without the MC involvement.

Eh, to me, Rean... isn't a Gary Stu.

He may got a lot special stuffs going on, but his life SUCKS. And until CSIV and Hajimari that he finally find happiness and success.

That said, perhaps this would follow the timeline shows in the prologue of CS1? The one without Millium and Crow?

man using original story is good option...but the problem which stpry that good enough for a new/anime person that didnt know the saga...like when anime only/new person finish the anime...they want to know n play cs or trails saga...
if its really 50+ eps( i feel imposible to full run every season)
i hope eps 12 will take CS1 cliffhanger ending after that eps 13>18 take a POV rean friends..when rean fly to his home...cuz i want to see what his friend doing when rean back to his home after cs1 ending
with this part anime watcher only also can play the game to know rean part in the game.

So the official title is Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel Northern War. It will have an anime original female protagonist named Lavie and will be set in North Ambria.
Based on the subtitle, I would guess it will be set timeline wise in-between Cold Steel 2 and 3.

Most likely this will happen during that time skip between 2 and 3 where Rean, Sara and Aurelia were involved in. Intriguing setting since none of the main or side material really covered it.

Man I really would have liked it if the content covered back story more that the intermission details. Plus I REALLY doubt that the North Ambria war has enough content to justify the alleged 2 cour run.
