A few random ones that I found pretty funny...
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing. When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. |

I thought Orson Scott Card (sci-fi writer) had awesome quotes in the afterword of "shadow of the hegemon"...
"It is in the turmoil of chaos that we discover what, if anything, we are." "For it is in the millions of small melodies that the truth of history is always found, for history only matters because of of the effects we see or imagine in the lives of the ordinary people who are caught up in, or give shape to, the great events." i'll be back with endless quotes of Tao te Ching if i find it in english.

"He appears to think that the word irony means pertaining to ferrous metals." - Saw this while reading YouTube comments by a guy named Falchion49.
"Well, if less is more just think how much more more would be." - Heard this on Frasier a few nights ago.

"I generally avoid temptation, unless I can't resist it." by May West (actress). "The horizon of most people is a circle with the radius 0. And that's what they call their standpoint." by Albert Einstein "The world is a gas station, on which smoking is not forbidden." by Friedrich Dürrenmatt Hope I translated the last two understandable |

Tao te Ching. finally got my hands on it. damn some of the english was hard as hell. good luck, these are the simpler ones...
8 In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep to the simple. In conflict, be fair and generous. In governing, don't try to control. In work, do what you enjoy. In family life, be completely present. When you are content to be simply yourself and don't compare or compete, everybody will respect you. **** 9 Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner. Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity. *** 11 We join spokes together in a wheel, but it is the center hole that makes the wagon move. We shape clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want. We hammer wood for a house, but it is the inner space that makes it livable. We work with being, but non-being is what we use.

"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two. - Captain Corelli's Mandolin. "Love is the beauty of the soul." --St. Augustine |
