Three clones of the same protagonist, each taking a different route before the dimensions merge in the finale. Was it so damn hard to imagine?

Personally, I thought that the attempts to merge the routes together turned out better than they could have been... but yeah, it probably would have been better to just focus on one and get the story down perfectly.

And also, they could really have used a better animation budget. The last episode had that frantic, beyond-human feeling to the fighting that I expected, but most of the others did not.

^ Well, it was the final episode. Cheap final impressions.

Well, in terms of UBW, perhaps, but their attempts to merge in HF were just plain pathetic. The whole Caster/Sakura arc was quite clearly shoved in there with no thought for canon or even internal continuity, and it fails to even come close to the awesomeness of the HF ending scene, plus it fails to actually cover any of the important parts of HF (other than Sakura and Rin's relationship, which is immediately forgotten about once they go back to following the Fate route).

I agree with that 110%. They should have stuck to Fate 100% and leave it at that.

The only VN to anime series that I have seen which successfully melded the routes was Requiem for the Phantom (if you have not seen it, do so now). But those routes were much easier to work with than this series.

And even UBW's melding in had some rough spots... Shirou didn't think to project Kanshou and Bakuya in his last fight with Kotomine becauuuuuuse...? He seemed to use them against Kuzuki just fine.

But don't you ever delude yourself into thinking it couldn't have been worse. It can always have been worse.

Oh, definitely. Just look at some of the AO endings nowadays.

I honestly can't see how they could have made the melding of HF worse.

Well, I suppose that they could randomly change Sakura's backstory to remove Zouken from the picture whilst leaving all the changes that he made to her body and personality intact, but surely no-one would be that stupid....

They could have gone the Chrono Crusade route! And you thought Heaven's Feel was depressing...

(Though admittedly, going with that ending would have made the rest of the series sort of tough to do.)

Depends on which ending of Chrono Crusade you're referring to, of course.

Spoiler for Spoilers for those who haven't read:

But yeah, there are certainly ways HF could have been worse than it already was, hard as it is to think about.

And so you have.

And to the reference of Dragons and Arthur, it was the Pendragon banner. It was a red banner with a black dragon upon it, symbolizing a red dragon, the red referencing its power. Arthur would carry it into every battle... until he was convinced to carry in the flag bearing the Virgin Mary (fuck off, guinevere) and Lancelot carried in the Pendragon standard, which cause a great deal of unhappiness with Arthur's supporters.

At least no one there had to wear bondage outfits. *shudder*
Though the animation did have plenty of man faces, so I guess it evens out.

I was spoiled about that when I neared the end of Fate. I was browsing somewhere and it was vaguely mentioned, but was specific enough for me to draw the conclusion. I had my suspicions and all, but they were only suspicions.

I thought the story was pretty shallow, but still a good watch. better than Bleach or One Piece, but not very good compared to Code Geass or Persona: Trinity Soul. I thought there were good action scenes, but a little generic.

I think we all agree to that ... in the anime version.

You are probably amongst the very few people who liked that series more. And damn was it also a disapppointment compared to the game.

True, but then again nobody watched it for the action.

First of all hi to everyone, i am new here and i became a member mostly to speak about Fate / Stay Night.

First of all i am not aware of the Game, i am a PC person since 1989 and have no interest whatsoever in consoles, so if the game had anything awesome about the series feel free to fill me in.

Now i just finished watching all episodes of Fate/Stay Night and the UBW movie....And i am confused a bit....For example why is the series so different than the movie ? More or less many things are the same with just slight differences but others are sooo different (illya and Archer for example).

I also did not like the ending of the series at all, i have to admit that the UBW finalle was much better for me, what can i say i'm a sucker for romantic endings.

In any case is there anything else out there (anime) regarding Fate/Stay Night already for me to watch or is there anything else planned ? I guess you people know better than i do

In any case nice to meet you all
