How much could the anime cover?
My understanding is that the current arc's still ongoing.

Feels like I've been waiting forever for this (even if this was around the time I expected an announcement to happen) but it's nice it's finally real. Expecting the anime to just be around 13-ish episodes to start off with since that's about what's needed to cover the Grace Field arc and that's kind of ideal for right now

To the surprise of absolutely no one.

Now where's one for Kimetsu no Yaiba?!

The anime should cover the entire Grace Field Arc which lasts 37 chapters. That's about as far as a first season should go.

Yes, this may end up as the least surprising anime announcement of 2018.

Yup. It was just a matter of when.

Preach it!
Truth to be told, Yaiba could wait just a bit more, since I would imagine the adaptation as a semi-fast paced one. 2-cour for adapting close the 70 chapters, and currently the manga only has 106.

There is some rumors that CloverWorks will be doing this, not surprised if true.

It would be by Pierrot or Toei. Why would anyone want it?

Gegege no Kitaro is one of the best shows this season has to offer and it's made by Toei. Just saying

Yeah, Kitarou is the best work they've done since Kyousougiga. Which was superb, of course. Toei can do great work when they want to.

Also, Pierrot did Akatsuki no Yona which was hardly a waste. They can do good work too - they're usually quite good on the writing side, in fact. The problem is when they lowball bids and produce shows with laughable budgets.

I was wondering when Promised Neverland would get an anime. This series and Dr. Stone are probably the ones I was most looking forward to for an anime. Hm, one season should be enough to cover the first big arc.

I wonder which studio will get it, and how much it'll show. Most of the series isn't that gruesome, except for a certain few scenes, but we'll see.

I find it highly unlikely that it will air in primetime hour not because of the content, but afternoon timeslot blocks dedicated to anime geared towards early teenagers and up such as Nichigo are dead as heck.
Not even TV Tokyo would consider airing it nowadays in an afternoon timeslot either seeing it's already occupied by the likes of Naruto and kodomomuke productions. That and Japan's very aging population doesn't help either. Having Neverland air in a primetime slot could have happened last decade ago.

Nowadays I can't see it air in any timeslot other than late night frame, good luck if it airs daytime on Sky!Perfect TV which is also broadcasting Gurazeni and will premiere Muhyo & Roji this summer.

I don't know... I don't think a primetime or even early morning weekend slot is impossible. The manga is pretty damn popular now and the content, while edgy at times, is certainly no more so than H x H or BnHA.

It may be broadcast on MBS, it is a channel that shows violence even during animes that are broadcast during afternoon timeslot, Nanatsu no Taizai is broadcast at 6:30 am, and you may notice how it has more gore than many animes are broadcast after midnight .

Meliodas vs Galand

Spoiler for for what I'm talking about:

And I can tell you this much - Nanatsu is as popular with middle schoolers here as any anime right now. Absolutely bonkers. There's money in broadcasting a show when middle schoolers (and even younger) can watch it.

Masayoshi Tanaka already denied these rumors. Though, who knows.
