OH MY GOODNESS. I DID NOT KNOW THIS SHOW COULD GET SO MUCH BETTER. I can't stress that enough, this is like a perfect 10 x2.

The best is Ayu in the morning, i laughed so much. Getting Makoto to go out buying porn? I knew it was coming from the game but I couldn't stop laughing. I even paused the show to explain to my friend what happened (he doesn't know japanese).

Perfect episode of perfection. I'll wait till more people have seen it to say more.

I'm not really getting this from this episode. In fact, I think it's worse than the others, although my irrational fears might be playing on this.

This episode is really getting me worried about the series as a whole. I'm just hoping that my worries are unfounded.

I haven't decide whether this episode is excellent or below average (of Kanon2006 so far, of course).

But I am leaning towards the latter...

Maybe that's because I know all the jokes already

Anyway, some minor rants-

1. Many many still shots. I get the funny feeling that KyoAni is trying to conserve their budget for the *truely* exciting scenes (probably the famous scenes of each girls) in the latter episodes.

2. Some frame transitions are rather abrupt. Usually studios put a bit of fadeout inbetween frame/scene switch...

Other than these two episode 5 is, as always, excellent (my perfect eye candy ^_^ ).

PS Yuuichi is double(triple) dating the girls!~~ Bastard!! How dare you splitup your lunchtime like that! That's cheating!

Spoiler for personal thoughts- game related:

It makes a lot of sense to move Makoto's story thread forward in prep for Mai (since they interleave to some extent more so than some of the other threads). I see the animation budget short cuts (well .. .such as they are -- KyoAni's shortcuts are often the best of what some other shows can muster. Nayuki at the gym running with her team mates was pretty lame-for-KyoAni animation as well). But in the context of setting up the scenarios here I thought this episode went pretty well. Time budget-wise, I'd say they're still playing it somewhat conservatively, which makes me think they've really storyboarded this out rather than "winging it and watching the polls" like some anime that turns into trainwrecks as a result.

I'm enjoying it and laughing at the humor even though I know most of the jokes and am steeling up for what is ahead -- so in that sense I guess its like watching a play that I know the lines to but enjoy it because of the skills of the actors and production.

Someone please tell me why there's such a rash amount of fakes coming out the moment the episode finishes airing? Talk about a cruel world...

As Mentar put it, it's being done at a "professional level".

As expected. I do believe tons of people out there have nothing better to do after dinner, or are simply having a little bit of fun,

Episode 5 was good...

Are you referring to the RAWs? Just follow [S^M]'s releases.

Cheers.

I don't think so. The effort behind it is too enormous and coordinated. I'm sure that this is professional work. Someone is paying for the winny poisoning.

Oooo... this was unexpected. Drats... now I got to stay awake until the download is done. How fortunate then that tomorrow is the weekend and I have no plans in the morning.

Hmm... tea-time. Caffeine injection for the win.

Skane: Nothing against S^M, but for releases with good video, these raws are usually insufficient. Which means that while you can use these raws for translating, and (with major pain) maybe also roughtiming and (even less) typesetting, you still need to redo all this work once you commit on your final release raw.

The result is an annoying loss of sleep for the fansubbers and slightly degraded video due to a lack of choices. I guess this is what the purses behind the winny poisoning are trying to achieve.

Quite possibly. Maybe they're being paid off by Kyoto Animation to put fakes on there?

I've never touched S^M raws, but after seeing the glory that is Japanese P2P I have more choice going that route rather than relying on groups releasing raws "officially".

Ah, I wasn't speaking of using [S^M]'s releases for fansubbing purposes. I meant for general viewing( along with reading a summary from sites such as Random Curiosity or Memento) before a fansub is released.

Cheers.

Okay, I was only replying because velocity7 is the fellow encoder from Sprocket-TWH, and we suffer the same fate ^_^;

I guess he was desperate to have his SS/Eclipse fix so decided to make his wishes known, figuring you might be one of those two groups' workers. Gotta love that kind of love.

That kind of stuff aside, I absolutely loved this episode ^_^

Tons of hilarious moments, and alot of little clues for the firsttime-watchers to pick up. I mean, the very idea to send off Makoto to purchase an "ero-hon" for him... had my in stitches. Sooooo mean ^_^

Getting back to the episode itself, it's a record low for Ayu's Uguu~ count, being at one for this episode.

To be more serious, I found the snow to be animated beautifully again in this episode, paritcularly at the beginning and when Shiori picks it up. I want to see the ten-meter tall snowman now
