It was cold. That much was certain. Even in this barrier that blocked out the wind and kept the inside from getting any colder, it was still freezing. Looking up, I scowled at the snow building on the top of my red tinted dome. "I hate planets like this," I stated my obvious contempt. "Why did I ever accept this mission?"

"I'm sorry." Yuuno answered me while studying the relic we had recovered. "I'm happy you came, though. I would have been in quite a spot if you weren't here."

It was true. We were on a frozen wasteland of a planet. Barely any trees, lots of ice, nothing but snow and mountains as far as I could see. A relic was discovered here, one that had the form of some old civilization idol piece or something. To me it was a clay doll, but to Yuuno it was much more. He was called here for a reason, I suppose. Although he needed a body guard, he was the only one able to actually comprehend what it was. The cave-in that happened when he picked it up might have killed him if I wasn't there to blast away the rubble.

But right now that didn't matter. I was freezing and we couldn't communicate with the ship until the snow let up. "Vita?" My name made me look over at my partner for this mission and noticed that he had a blanket. "Come on, let's get warm."

I wasn't one to turn down warmth. Walking the few paces to him, I sat beside the nineteen year old man and curled up under it with him. "It's not big enough," I complained, frowning at it with distaste.

"Hmm..." Once again the man looked around a little before having an idea. "Come here," He moved to the half-tree that was inside our barrier and sat down to lean back on it. "Sit in my lap."

His lap? As in between his legs? "No thanks," I crossed my arms and looked away. I had my dignity after all.

"No one will know," He tried again when I had a full body shiver. "Come on."

I looked at his offered hand and met the clear green eyes. Yuuno, one of the only people that I knew who treated me as an adult, was offering to keep me warm with his own body heat. If it was anyone else I would have slammed them with my hammer. Yuuno, though, was the kind who just made me calm down when we were alone. Nanoha was the only other one to do that to me, but she wasn't here right now. "Okay," I gave in and walked to him, sitting between his parted legs and instantly feeling the blanket wrapped around us both.

We stayed silent a while, watching the falling snow together with nothing else to do. "It's kind of nice," He spoke, breath tickling the top of my head. "Seeing snow I mean. It never snows where I'm stationed."

"I hate snow."

"Why?"

I looked down. It was snowing the day Nanoha almost died. Ever since, I cursed the cold. I knew it was childish and that the snow had nothing to do with it, but still... "I don't know," I lied to him.

"I see, I'm sorry I asked." He saw through my answer. He always did.

Time passed so painfully slow. I was warm now, having been under the blanket for a good hour or so now. Our small hand held heater was ever so slowly warming the barrier up. Not enough to really notice, but heat couldn't escape the barrier so every little bit helped. More time passed in silence and I found myself getting sleepy. I had not rested since my last mission because this one was only supposed to take an hour or two at most. I wish we knew that the snow here interfered with communication before hand. Or known to pack supplies. At least Yuuno had a little bit of everything in his exploration backpack. Yawning, I finally allowed myself to rest my back against his front.

"If you're sleepy, you can rest." He told me softly. Before I could state that I was perfectly fine, he went on. "I need your help in case something comes up again, so please rest while you can."

Damn him. He knew just what to say, just how to word it to play to my pride. Not just this but everything. He made it so I could always enjoy things without losing my dignity. I knew I acted childish, it was who I was, but I hated being treated as such. Others would have told me I needed rest. They would have said my younger body needed sleep more than an adult's. They would have tried to look out for me because I was smaller. Like a little sister.

Yuuno was the one who spoke to me as an adult. He said he needed me in top form to protect him, stated clearly that I was needed. He saw me as a woman, and although I would never admit it aloud... Sometimes I sought him out just for that.

Maybe that was the reason I took this mission?

Closing my eyes, I rested fully against him. "I'm going to rest then." I tried to get comfortable for a few moments but could only stay still when his arms gently wrapped around my upper body. The embrace was almost non-existent, but it still made me relax. Yes, I could relax in his arms. He didn't see it as a weakness. After all, he needed me to protect him.

I don't know how long I slept, but when I finally did wake up I noticed that the snow had stopped falling. Our barrier was warm enough to make the built up snow on it stop sticking. I moved from the loose arms, waking my partner up in the process, and used my device to contact our patrol ship. "Scouters calling base. Come in base."

"This is base," a man's picture came on my screen. "We were worried, Scouters. Are you okay?"

"We're fine," I informed him. "We recovered the relic and got caught in interference. Sending location now."

"Received. Transport will arrive shortly."

"Ah." I closed the monitor and looked behind myself. Yuuno was packing everything up and getting ready to head out. Not once did he pat me on the head, or ask if I slept okay. Nanoha would have. She would have teased me just to rile me up, because she liked me. Yuuno on the other hand seemed different. He respected me. He saw me as a woman and treated me as such.

Maybe that was why my heart beat faster around him.

This was just a really nice one. If there is anything I'm grateful to StrikerS for its how Vita became a favourite of mine during the whole thing. Good job Yuuno in protecting Vita's pride and treating her right .

I knew this day would come eventually but I didn't expect it to be so soon. Now here I was, staring into the curious heterochromic eyes before me. Nanoha was having a fit, that was for sure. Already sweating, she was stammering out random words and generally making no sense at all. It was funny, everyone always saw her as so calm and collected, not to mention mature. If only they knew the truth. The truth only a few knew.

Nanoha was really funny to watch sometimes.

"Vivio," I leaned forward and the eyes swapped from Nanoha to me. Vivio was sixteen now, so I guess it was okay. "Where did you hear about this?"

"Girls at school. One had a condom and the others were giggling about it. Mamma, what does it do?"

Nanoha was freaking again.

"Well," I continued, patiently explaining to my daughter. Her face was coloring, making me feel a little happy to know I could embarass her so much. The poor thing was probably regretting asking. To try and ease her worries I simply smiled. "Any questions?"

"Several," Vivio shook her head. "But I really don't want to ask."

"Tell you what." I took both her hands in mine and gave an understanding squeeze. "I'm sure there is a book that will explain everything you might have questions about, so I'll just buy it when I'm in town and then put it on your bed while making sure no one sees it, okay sweetheart?"

Vivio flushed, but was happy now. "Thanks, Mama."

"You're welcome." We hugged and I ruffled her hair. "Now, go have fun and don't forget to let me review your homework okay?"

"Yes ma'am." Vivio trotted off and I leaned back on the couch.

"Well," Nanoha cleared her throat. "That was easy. Good thing we stayed calm."

I smiled again. Even after all this time, Nanoha wasn't the best mother material. She was a little too stern sometimes, and other times she prefered our girl to study and work rather than have fun and play. But there was that look in her eyes each time she saw Vivio that I just adored.

I knew that no matter how much I knew about parenting, no matter if Vivio was more of a 'Fate-mama' 's girl than anything else... I couldn't match the amount of feelings Nanoha had for her. The only other time I could see so much love in her eyes is when-

Nanoha looked at me and smiled.

Well thats a situation. Everyone gets curious some time... And hay, leaving it to a book saves both parties from embarrassment, but for Vivio's case... (attempt at writing to follow.)

The next hour in a half was spent with shaky words, bright red faces, and a quite a few 'Well you see...' and 'oh...'. At the end of the talk the both of them sat on the couch doing a excellent imitation of a tomato. Finally Vivio spoke up.

"Thats why you bought me a book."

Vita needs to feel some love too! I liked this little short off into uncharted waters. Vita's big problems are (1) She'd only attract the sickos and (2) Even if she found someone nice (Yuuno in this example) there would be trouble in the outside world as they wouldn't know that Vita is an adult stuck in a kid's body. Though it would be funny seeing Yuuno tackled by the local cops thinking hes some sort of sex offender .

Well thats a situation. Everyone gets curious some time... And hay, leaving it to a book saves both parties from embarrassment, but for Vivio's case... (attempt at writing to follow.)

"So," Fate asked, "Do you still have any questions."

Vivio looked looked down at her lab blushing over what she learned in her little educational experience. "No, not really Fate-mama."

"Ok, sweetheart. But if you ever have any more questions you can ask me." Fate got up from the couch and started to walk out of the room but Vivio spoke up.

"Well maybe I do" the young blond asked.

"Oh, what do you have a question about" Fate turned around and sat back down.

"Do you and Nanoha-mama have sex?" Vivio timidly asked.

"Well," Fate tried to put a small smile on her face but it turned out lopsided, "Yes, honey, your mothers do have sex."

"So who's the guy?"

This time Fate was the one that found the lap an interesting focal point. "Honey... sex doesn't just happen between a man and a women."

"Oh..."

The next hour in a half was spent with shaky words, bright red faces, and a quite a few 'Well you see...' and 'oh...'. At the end of the talk the both of them sat on the couch doing a excellent imitation of a tomato. Finally Vivio spoke up.

"Thats why you bought me a book."

"Thats why I bought you a book."

Now...



Vita needs to feel some love too! I liked this little short off into uncharted waters. Vita's big problems are (1) She'd only attract the sickos and (2) Even if she found someone nice (Yuuno in this example) there would be trouble in the outside world as they wouldn't know that Vita is an adult stuck in a kid's body. Though it would be funny seeing Yuuno tackled by the local cops thinking hes some sort of sex offender .

You should try writing some :3

And yeah, seeing Yuuno tackled is a good mental image.

@Thread: Thanks for the comments on Yuuno/Vita. I wasn't sure how it would work out, but it seems that it was enjoyed, so I'm happy.

Something else. Everyone seems to be interacting a lot more, so how about something fun? A small tag-team writing. One person writes a small part of a story, can be anywhere from a few lines to a few paragraphs, and then points to someone to pick it up. Then that person continues a bit and points out someone else. Would anyone be interested in this, just for fun? I can start something up if a few people are interested.

I knew this day would come eventually but I didn't expect it to be so soon. Now here I was, staring into the curious heterochromic eyes before me. Nanoha was having a fit, that was for sure. Already sweating, she was stammering out random words and generally making no sense at all. It was funny, everyone always saw her as so calm and collected, not to mention mature. If only they knew the truth. The truth only a few knew.

Nanoha was really funny to watch sometimes.

"Vivio," I leaned forward and the eyes swapped from Nanoha to me. Vivio was sixteen now, so I guess it was okay. "Where did you hear about this?"

"Girls at school. One had a condom and the others were giggling about it. Mamma, what does it do?"

Nanoha was freaking again.

"Well," I continued, patiently explaining to my daughter. Her face was coloring, making me feel a little happy to know I could embarass her so much. The poor thing was probably regretting asking. To try and ease her worries I simply smiled. "Any questions?"

"Several," Vivio shook her head. "But I really don't want to ask."

"Tell you what." I took both her hands in mine and gave an understanding squeeze. "I'm sure there is a book that will explain everything you might have questions about, so I'll just buy it when I'm in town and then put it on your bed while making sure no one sees it, okay sweetheart?"

Vivio flushed, but was happy now. "Thanks, Mama."

"You're welcome." We hugged and I ruffled her hair. "Now, go have fun and don't forget to let me review your homework okay?"

"Yes ma'am." Vivio trotted off and I leaned back on the couch.

"Well," Nanoha cleared her throat. "That was easy. Good thing we stayed calm."

I smiled again. Even after all this time, Nanoha wasn't the best mother material. She was a little too stern sometimes, and other times she prefered our girl to study and work rather than have fun and play. But there was that look in her eyes each time she saw Vivio that I just adored.

I knew that no matter how much I knew about parenting, no matter if Vivio was more of a 'Fate-mama' 's girl than anything else... I couldn't match the amount of feelings Nanoha had for her. The only other time I could see so much love in her eyes is when-

Nanoha looked at me and smiled.

Awww. That was cute. And it was an important conversation for Vivio. Think Nanoha and Fate handled it quite well. The book was definitely smart. Go Fate-mama

Vita's POV

It was cold. That much was certain. Even in this barrier that blocked out the wind and kept the inside from getting any colder, it was still freezing. Looking up, I scowled at the snow building on the top of my red tinted dome. "I hate planets like this," I stated my obvious contempt. "Why did I ever accept this mission?"

"I'm sorry." Yuuno answered me while studying the relic we had recovered. "I'm happy you came, though. I would have been in quite a spot if you weren't here."

It was true. We were on a frozen wasteland of a planet. Barely any trees, lots of ice, nothing but snow and mountains as far as I could see. A relic was discovered here, one that had the form of some old civilization idol piece or something. To me it was a clay doll, but to Yuuno it was much more. He was called here for a reason, I suppose. Although he needed a body guard, he was the only one able to actually comprehend what it was. The cave-in that happened when he picked it up might have killed him if I wasn't there to blast away the rubble.

But right now that didn't matter. I was freezing and we couldn't communicate with the ship until the snow let up. "Vita?" My name made me look over at my partner for this mission and noticed that he had a blanket. "Come on, let's get warm."

I wasn't one to turn down warmth. Walking the few paces to him, I sat beside the nineteen year old man and curled up under it with him. "It's not big enough," I complained, frowning at it with distaste.

"Hmm..." Once again the man looked around a little before having an idea. "Come here," He moved to the half-tree that was inside our barrier and sat down to lean back on it. "Sit in my lap."

His lap? As in between his legs? "No thanks," I crossed my arms and looked away. I had my dignity after all.

"No one will know," He tried again when I had a full body shiver. "Come on."

I looked at his offered hand and met the clear green eyes. Yuuno, one of the only people that I knew who treated me as an adult, was offering to keep me warm with his own body heat. If it was anyone else I would have slammed them with my hammer. Yuuno, though, was the kind who just made me calm down when we were alone. Nanoha was the only other one to do that to me, but she wasn't here right now. "Okay," I gave in and walked to him, sitting between his parted legs and instantly feeling the blanket wrapped around us both.

We stayed silent a while, watching the falling snow together with nothing else to do. "It's kind of nice," He spoke, breath tickling the top of my head. "Seeing snow I mean. It never snows where I'm stationed."

"I hate snow."

"Why?"

I looked down. It was snowing the day Nanoha almost died. Ever since, I cursed the cold. I knew it was childish and that the snow had nothing to do with it, but still... "I don't know," I lied to him.

"I see, I'm sorry I asked." He saw through my answer. He always did.

Time passed so painfully slow. I was warm now, having been under the blanket for a good hour or so now. Our small hand held heater was ever so slowly warming the barrier up. Not enough to really notice, but heat couldn't escape the barrier so every little bit helped. More time passed in silence and I found myself getting sleepy. I had not rested since my last mission because this one was only supposed to take an hour or two at most. I wish we knew that the snow here interfered with communication before hand. Or known to pack supplies. At least Yuuno had a little bit of everything in his exploration backpack. Yawning, I finally allowed myself to rest my back against his front.

"If you're sleepy, you can rest." He told me softly. Before I could state that I was perfectly fine, he went on. "I need your help in case something comes up again, so please rest while you can."

Damn him. He knew just what to say, just how to word it to play to my pride. Not just this but everything. He made it so I could always enjoy things without losing my dignity. I knew I acted childish, it was who I was, but I hated being treated as such. Others would have told me I needed rest. They would have said my younger body needed sleep more than an adult's. They would have tried to look out for me because I was smaller. Like a little sister.

Yuuno was the one who spoke to me as an adult. He said he needed me in top form to protect him, stated clearly that I was needed. He saw me as a woman, and although I would never admit it aloud... Sometimes I sought him out just for that.

Maybe that was the reason I took this mission?

Closing my eyes, I rested fully against him. "I'm going to rest then." I tried to get comfortable for a few moments but could only stay still when his arms gently wrapped around my upper body. The embrace was almost non-existent, but it still made me relax. Yes, I could relax in his arms. He didn't see it as a weakness. After all, he needed me to protect him.

I don't know how long I slept, but when I finally did wake up I noticed that the snow had stopped falling. Our barrier was warm enough to make the built up snow on it stop sticking. I moved from the loose arms, waking my partner up in the process, and used my device to contact our patrol ship. "Scouters calling base. Come in base."

"This is base," a man's picture came on my screen. "We were worried, Scouters. Are you okay?"

"We're fine," I informed him. "We recovered the relic and got caught in interference. Sending location now."

"Received. Transport will arrive shortly."

"Ah." I closed the monitor and looked behind myself. Yuuno was packing everything up and getting ready to head out. Not once did he pat me on the head, or ask if I slept okay. Nanoha would have. She would have teased me just to rile me up, because she liked me. Yuuno on the other hand seemed different. He respected me. He saw me as a woman and treated me as such.

Maybe that was why my heart beat faster around him.

Reminds me of that Vita/Yuuno picture, so sweet.

Well, while Fate is not vailable as a love option, she still is a very close friend of Nanoha. Her helping Nanoha move forward in her relationship is likely.
