Amazing pictures, thanks. It's a bit strange to see high quality color shots from a period from which I've mostly seen black and whites. Makes people from that era...become more alive to me.

Of course they would. It's very fashionable to slob Apple's knob.

Not only they would, they will. Once someone's actually put something like that out on the market and, well, the difficulties to solve become obvious.

Watch Out, White Hats! European Union Moves to Criminalize ‘Hacking Tools’

"The European Union is continuing a push to criminalize the production or sale of
“hacking” tools, a move that civil liberties advocates argue could make criminals out
of legitimate security researchers.

The proposal is intended to create stiffer penalties across Europe for hacking and
denial of service attacks, imposing a maximum sentence of up to five years for
hacking into a site or using a botnet to flood a site with fake traffic.

The proposed law, which was passed by the European Commission’s Civil Liberties
Committee last week, still has a ways to go before going into effect — but the EFF’s
international rights director Katitza Rodriguez says now is the time to raise
awareness about the proposal."

Maybe I'll take up blacksmithing... might be hard for all their globalization intertubes to work if all the "morlocks" just up and say "fuck you" on the way out the door to the pub.

I cannot wait for the headlines as people start walking into traffic, burning themselves, and so on.

I see these being very useful for mechanics, technicians, line workers, etc. Pretty much anything where you might need to view manuals, schematics or get sensor readings without having to use your hands.

I don't see these being terribly popular with the average person.

I think the glasses, as presented in the video, are a move toward the future. Instead of taking your phone out, you can just wave your hands. (Eventually, I guess they'll do away with the glasses...) Still, we're probably pretty far from something that works that well.

Also, in the future I envision with these glasses, we won't be able to ogle a girl without automatically sending her a friend request and receiving multiple advertisement for:
- the clothes she wears;
- dating sites;
- paid companionship;
- penile enhancement.
(I never said it was a nice future.)

I can see it work nicely for drivers as a kind of cheap alternative to helmet mounted displays that pilots use.

Not as they are currently. But give them about a decade or so to streamline the technology, add some apps and their civilian popularity would increase. I mean alot of people already adopt hands-free technologies when using phones like using earphones and mics, having the ability to not use your hands in holding up the display would be a godsend.

I'm slightly more concerned about what the above poster said... when they become integrated. At least with a smartphone you can put the damn thing away and you won't get augmented reality ads every time your eyes fall on some piece of corporate product!

Because really, this is what Google is after. Augmented reality is a gorgeous concept for selling ads.

Have an option to turn off augmented reality functions then? We do have the option to turn off ads on the net today

(Given the propensity of some companies to be stubborn about advertising I can certainly see the concern though...)

Augmented reality ads are just the tip of the iceberg. Everything you look at will be logged as data to be sold to advertisement companies.

Know those ads in Minority Report and Mass Effect that refer to you by name?

(Of course, the problem applies to any tech that tracks user statistics, not limited to "eye-phones").
