This week's episode was kind of... eh. I'm not a fan of the whole "weird carneval" setting to begin with, the sexy seductive demon was predictable, and basically they stretched half an episode's worth of material to a whole episode. Poor Azuna, though! I'm starting to feel really sorry for her. |

Yeah, the accident sound was just an illusion to lure her out of the house. And I don't think Lindo is the only one who knows what's going on. To me, it looks like Azuna also knows (and poor girl keeps getting ditched - both by her friend and by the producers who always have her run off but never show us the end result of where she ended up. ) I was surprised Rem stopped her from taking off her necklace. Wouldn't that have been a bonus for him too? But then he probably has the power to make her do that as well but don't...hmmm...I wonder why he goes soft on her? Lindo in an apron...I got "yaoi" vibes flashed before my eyes when I saw that. ...this ep made my mind go in so many wrong directions.

Ep 03
This series gets the most times for literally making me facepalm, and this ep was no exception...when the tango song about the butterfly began it was just...too much...and yet still part of me enjoys the raw terribadnitude that oozes out, especially during the insert songs.

Hmm, I noticed the cross on Azuna's phone too. When she ran out of the store, it made me think that she's in cahoots with the brother and mom. It would suck if she turns out to be one of those undercover "friends" that's put next to the MC for protection. I was slightly reminded of Rozencrantz and Guildenstern, though it probably isn't as bad.
And "exorcist school." The bro's in Ao no Exorcist. Quote:

I just find their sibling relationship pretty strange now...
Not that Ritsuka's bro is a mysterious dude though but the fact that I think he may be hiding something else from her. At least he's right about the other main guys being devils. The songs remain kinda catchy this episode, something that I find kinda pleasant in the show. Not really into the story still for this series though.

Four episodes in, and sadly, the musical numbers still aren't working for me. The story is interesting, but every time a song starts up, I wince. I really could do without the musical interludes.
Spoiler for speculation fueled by episode 4:

ep 4:
This wasn't as fun as last week's Eyes Wide Shut themed carnvial! I do not like Lindo. Also, Spoiler:
Blue Puppy Boy also wants to get in on Ritsuka's grimmoire. Next week should be fun though with Steroid Student Demon

So if you love someone, it's perfectly acceptable to lock them up, is it? And if you suspect someone to be dangerous, it's the greatest idea to confront them about it in an empty corridor. Why? Why must so many mediums designed for girls continue to glorify this behavior?
Also, the song lyrics and the ending -- lemme make a wild guess: The "brother's" father is a vampire. Interesting speculation. I assumed the masked person was male, but if it turns out to be her mother... Well, I suppose that would do away with the parental presence problem if the series goes on. And I agree about the music. The first time was funny due to it being entirely unexpected, but I just can't help face-palming/wincing as they continue to come up. |

Rem's little bit wasn't bad but Subaru Kimura needs to not sing anymore. and holy shit... Rindo/Lindo's song was more creepy than Urie's song last week.

Well I'm guessing Lindo has vampire blood in him based on that last guy's reaction and also how his eyes had a red glow - could be half or full vamp, we'll see. Plus, Lindo believes that he and Ritsuka are related, but I'm guessing more in line as cousins (or maybe Ritsuka' Aunt, whom I guess to be Lindo's real mother, was actually adopted, which would make them completely unrelated); that's my guess. However, based on Lindo's song, he may be made to think that he's her real brother, so he considers his feelings of love for her sinful - and, yes, he just admitted that his love for her is more than platonic.
Ritsuka, I'm also guessing, is not quite human herself. It seemed that she was about to release some kind of power through that pendant of hers before Lindo stopped her. ...and...we are obviously seeing a canon pairing being set up between Ritsuka and Rem. She earnestly wants to believe Rem is a good guy...and Rem is swaying in his emotions toward her as well. Came across to me like star-crossed lovers, these two. Hopefully she won't poison herself and he won't get stabbed with a cross by Lindo. ...and I also believe that vampire mask guy...is a guy. I don't think he's her mother but it did appear like he knows or is acquainted with Lindo to some extent at the end there (or maybe that's just vampire camaraderie).

I agree with GDiddy, Lind's VA can NOT sing. I have no clue if he used auto-tune in the OP or what manner of sorcery he used to stay in tune, but in the anime itself he was by FAR the worst of the singers. Well either that or he's trying so hard to sing IN CHARACTER, and he just fails both to be in character and sing well. Well, I dunno who decided that Lind should sound so deep in the first place when his singing voice is higher, but eh, it's still a fail either way.
In any case, this episode really highlights just why I can't really stay mad against the incest route. Reason being is the way it is depicted in anime/manga/VN, it's exactly how osananajimi would have been portrayed. Here, lo and behold, what is supposed to be incest is most likely them to be cousin childhood friends. So we've got the 'fake sibling' childhood friends with Lindo, now I'm only hoping that Rem is the 'forgotten' one. Very unlikely now that the flashback this episode has shown Lind in black trousers + white shirt while MC is in a green dress, and the MC calling Lindo her prince. But you never know, maybe there's ANOTHER memory she had with another kid in the same outfit that she has merely forgotten... XD

I don't think Lindo's seiyuu's singing was bad at all... He stayed on tune and hit all the notes he was supposed to hit. It's just that the Elements Garden style pop/singing is not a very good fit for the type of voice that he has. (Going by the OP he'd probably do better in HS Musical... or even better, in an actual musical with actually musical-ish songs. Or old-school JRock. )
Anyway, yeah, definitely cousins. It seems though that Lindo either doesn't know this, or they grew up together so he figures they're as good as actual siblings. Still, while I don't really like any of the characters so far I'm rooting for Lindo (even though it's never going to happen) simply because I like Rem even less than him. Azuna is best suitor girl though, go Azuna! Doggie is surprisingly evil. I thought he would be an ally or something, but nope, he's an evil little pomeranian. (He should've been a chihuahua. ) I also don't think that the hooded/masked vampire is the mom, unless she's suddenly a guy now. Quote:
Also, I guess it provides an opportunity to make the female character seem strong and determined, I guess? Lindo: Don't leave the house. Don't get involved with the student council guys anymore. Ritsuka: *leaves the house with one of the student council guys* Lindo: OK, once more: don't go outside. Definitely don't go to school. *locks windows, doors* Ritsuka: *destroys window, goes to school* Lindo: ......ok, you know what, do whatever you want. Ritsuka: You know it would've been easier if you just told me why. Last edited by kuromitsu; 2015-10-29 at 06:45. |
