I recommend to people who like DQ IX to play DQ VIII on the PS2. It is in my top three RPGs, I think. It is hard to pick amongst Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest VIII, and Final Fantasy IX.

& luckily there's no decent 3DS games out yet.

i'm only at the beginning, and i find the gameplay nice but i
sometimes get bored....
