The control room shook lightly from the shockwave that resulted from the impact of the last spell used by the Kaiser hitting against Nanoha’s shields.

“Mr. Scrya, are you alright?” asked Carim. Considering that they indeed felt a little something thanks to the fight in the simulator, it meant that his barriers had weakened a bit. Then again, he had been maintaining them for two straight brawls between powered mages.

“Y-yeah… just gotta maintain my concentration,” muttered the Librarian. He had hoped that none of his barriers were compromised during the last exchange of blows although he wasn’t totally sure since his mind had been rather drained running the numbers to keep the barriers up and running.

“Wait… where did Mom Junior go?”

“Mom Junior?” Subaru thought about that for a moment before she figured out what he meant. ‘Ah, Touma meant Vivio… wait a minute!’

A quick scan of the room did indeed prove that the girl was no longer among them which got Hayate sweating. “Vivio?! Where did you go?!”

“I believe Her Majesty went into the battlefield. As you can see, the chamber door seal had been damaged, most likely as a result from Mr. Scrya’s inability to maintain the barrier during the last clash,” noted Otto. “It’s likely that she slipped through to reach her mother.”

“Let’s just go get her back before she gets hurt in the crossfire! Get in touch with the combatants and get them to pause their match!”

‘I’m… still conscious?’ Nanoha had been expecting that last attack from the Kaiser to knock her out since it didn’t have any problem smashing through the Multiple Defenser but perhaps her opponent pulled her blow at the last moment. For what reason, she couldn’t tell but since she had a chance now, she might as well do a quick situation assessment.

Low on magical energy? Check.

Bind spell still in effect? Nope. At least she could fly again but with the above fact in place, that could be an issue.

Barrier jacket damage? Fairly extensive with her eyes spotting several rips and tears on the magical cloth.

“Raising… Heart?”

“I can still fight, my Master.”

That’s good. The question was whether her body would be prepared to head back into battle. Although she had come a long way in her recovery from the JS Incident, she wasn’t able to go at maximum power as frequently as she used to. Perhaps she should take some time off to rest her wings but that will have to wait. The more immediate concern was the approaching Olivie who took her time while walking towards her.

“Nanoha, can you hear me?! Nanoha!” She could hear Hayate’s voice in her mind and she sounded really panicked.

“What is it?”

“You have to stop your match right now! Vivio’s gotten into the combat simulator!”

Hayate’s warning came a little bit late as Nanoha’s ears picked up the sound of tiny footsteps approaching rapidly. “DON’T BULLY MY MAMA!!!”

“Vivio?!” Nanoha realized with horror that her child had somehow gotten into the arena and placed herself in danger. “No, get out of here!”

But the little girl didn’t listen. As soon as she reached the red clad armoured woman, she started kicking at the legs since that was as high as she could reach with her own. “Take this! And this!”

For a few moments, the only sound that was in the arena came from a foot making contact with magical armour repeatedly. Olivie’s expression remained unchanged so that meant nobody could tell what she was thinking. Not Carim… not Hayate… not even her son.

Finally, after a few seconds of staring at the little girl kick her, Olivie finally spoke. “You’re doing it wrong.”

That caused Vivio to stop. “… … eh?”

“Get into your stance and have your dominant leg behind your other leg.” Olivie moved so that she would be able to help Vivio fix her stance. “The dominant leg's toe should be pointed to its side while your secondary leg is in front, its toe pointed straight forward. You want your torso to generally face the direction of your dominant leg. Your hands can be in a guard position or relaxed.”

“… …” Who is this lady… and why did she look so much like…?

“Are you listening, young lady?”

“Uh, yes!” The smaller girl snapped to attention and moved her right leg back as instructed.

“If you want to go for speed, you will use your front foot. If you want a more powerful kick, use your back leg.” After letting this fact settle in with the child, Olivie continued. “Raise your kicking-leg's knee so your thigh is parallel to the ground, about hip to waist level. This is called chambering. Breathe in as you do this.”

‘So I want to raise… which leg?’ She was trying to remember what that lady was saying but she was going so fast.

“Kick your leg, snapping it forward quickly. With a front kick you can use the ball of your foot or your instep as a striking surface. As you kick, rapidly release the air in your lungs. Remember, breath in when you contract, breath out when you expand. This also will relax your body, allowing for proper technique, because holding air in means your muscles are too tense, and you are trying to control your kick too much, which weakens the kick, slows it down and tires you out faster.”

‘So much to remember…!’ This was making her head spin.

“Now give it a shot,” instructed the older woman while bending down to closely observe the younger girl’s progress.

Vivio complied, using her back leg as the kicking leg. It shot forward, grazing the older woman in the face.

“ARAA…!” And there goes Olivie, fainting backwards dramatically while her armour and gauntlets vanished, leaving her in that fancy dress again while everyone stared, rather stunned at how all this turned out.

“Mom, what just happened?!”

She looked up and smiled at Touma. “Well, my son… I do believe that I was just defeated by a seven year old.”

“I’m eight!” protested Vivio.

“I stand corrected.” Olivie’s playfulness dimmed down a bit as she carefully looked at the child. “So… you must be Vivio? Wow… I never knew I looked so adorable when I was a child.”

It slowly came to the smaller girl. This was the person from the distant past. The person she had been copied from. “You’re…?”

“Olivie Segbrecht. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I guess since we share the same blood that would make us…” She paused for a moment. “… sisters? Or biological mother and daughter? Oh, I don’t know!”

That was the last thing on Vivio’s mind at the moment. “My wish… it came true!” She quickly closed her eyes and clapped her hands loudly. “I wish I had a big large bag of never ending candy that only I can see so that Nanoha-mama won’t take it away from me!”

“Um, Vivio… I’m right here,” said Nanoha in a flat tone.

“Geh…!” That response proved beyond a doubt that she really was her adopted mother’s daughter.

.... that was adorable to the point of absurdity. Olivie must be a fantastic mother.

Overall a very good chapter, as usual. There was one passage that struck me as 'off', but for whatever reason I can't find it right now. I'll shoot you a PM if I do.

True enough, indeed. I don't want to make it too cracky since in all honesty, when it comes to actual published work I'm not that good at crack. But I would like to keep it as a humor piece instead of something serious, so maybe I'll just bend the rules of how someone would react in that situation.

The best crack comes in two kinds: the first moves the slide to exactly as much crack as required to make the premise of the crack plausible.

The second cranks it up so high the scale breaks.

Ask Moczo about our AIM or text conversations, he'll tell you just how cracky I can get when I'm bouncing off of someone else for ideas and character interaction. But when it actually comes to writing it by myself, I'm always worried that I'll cross the point where it's not so much funny as it is forced, which makes me wary of writing it at all. Especially since a lot of the time, it's hard to tell when you cross that line.

"I'm sorry that you're leaving so soon." Miata shook his head as he looked at Yuuno, Arisa and Caro. "But, in this case, it's understandable."

"How's the rest of the family?" Yuuno asked his uncle, getting a laugh from him.

"Well, a lot of them miss you." He grinned at the young teenager. "You should come and visit us more often." He looked at Caro and narrowed his eyes at her. "And you, young lady." Caro stiffened and whimpered, before he grinned and pulled her into a hug. "You be a good little girl for my nephew, okay?" Caro nodded for him and he laughed while setting her down.

"Ku... Ku..." Fried chirped from his position on Arisa's shoulder. The small Dragon only really felt this comfortable on Caro's shoulder, he wasn't sure why Arisa's shoulder was so similar to him.

"Well, we'll take off then." Yuuno waved at them. "I'd stay longer, but, I think you can understand if I don't." Miata nodded at him as Caro ran over and hugged Yuuno's legs. "Take care, nephew." A flash of light later, and the three humans and one Dragon were gone. "How come you didn't go with, Reiko?"

The redhead shrugged. "What? I know I can visit Yuuno anytime I want, and he's okay. And he's got people looking after him, so, what do I care?"

Miata chuckled softly. "I think you're still worried that those girls around him will just end up using him." Reiko pouted, but said nothing. "If you wanted to follow him..."

"Nah." Reiko shook her head, chuckling. "I came here for a dig, not make sure that my cousin has girlfriends that take care of him." She snorted at his look. "If I go after him, it'll be after this, so, let's get back to work."

Miata chuckled and nodded. "Good point."

Lina blinked as she heard the door shut and heard Yuuno's voice. "Welcome home, Yuuno!" She called out. "I'm in the kitchen."

"Anyone else here?" Lina looked and smiled as she saw Arisa with Yuuno.

"Well, Fate took Arf, Erio and Arashi to the park and Suzuka's seeing my husband and Miyuki about training." Lina chuckled softly. "Gone for most of the day and you'd think that you were coming back after weeks away." She blinked as she saw something different. "And who's this little dear?" Lina smiled as she walked over to Caro, who whimpered and hid behind Yuuno's legs.

"Her name's Caro." Yuuno smiled and put a hand behind him to guide her out from behind him. "Introduce yourself."

"Hi..." Caro blushed and bowed to Lina. "I'm Caro Lu Rushe and this is my Dragon, Friedrich. You can call him Fried." She motioned to the small Dragon that was floating just above her shoulder.

"Well, Caro Lu Rushe." Lina smiled as the girl looked up. "My name is Lina Takamachi. Would you like to have dinner here?"

Caro's eyes sparkled and she impulsively hugged Lina. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Lina smiled as she hugged the girl back. "You're welcome, I'll have to put more food on and we should hurry before..."

"We're home!" Fate's voice rang out. "Yuuno!" She cried out happily as she caught him. "I didn't expect to see you back."

Yuuno turned to see Fate, Erio, Arashi and Arf, the latter in her puppy form, walking into the house. "Well, things happened and I ended up bringing home someone too."

Erio blinked and walked close to the group and poked his head in. He didn't know who the pink haired girl was and, being curious, said the first thing that came to his mind. "Who's the shrimp?"

Caro let go of the hug and stared at Erio, her eyes blank and white as she started swinging her arms up and down. "Wha, wha, what?!"

Lina was lucky she leaned back to avoid the swinging arms. "Erio?"

"Um..." Erio looked at Caro again and nodded. "Who is she?"

"You called me a shrimp!" Caro suddenly bolted forward and tackled Erio to the ground. "I am not seafood!"

"Ah..." Yuuno and Fate said at the same time as they saw the two start growling and pulling at each others faces.

Lina started laughing as she looked at the two roll around and knocking Arashi down, who joined in with a yell. "Reminds me of Miyuki and Kyouya when they were little."

"So, this is normal?" Fate pointed to the trio of kids and Lina nodded.

"Yeah. Besides," Lina smiled as she looked at the kids, "they aren't crying, I think they're just fine." She turned around and walked off, muttering something about getting a camera.

"So..." Fate looked at Arisa and Yuuno. "...What happened?"

"Would you believe an incredibly wild affair that lasted for years on a planet with accelerated time and only a day passed for the rest of you?" Yuuno asked, his face neutral.

"Whaaaa?!"

"Yuuno!!"

"I thought you weren't going to talk about that, boss."

Yuuno started laughing at the looks he was getting from Fate and Arisa. "What? It was too good to pass up."

Fate pouted at him and turned away, crossing her arms. "That wasn't a very nice joke."

Arisa nodded and glared at him. "What's the point of saying that anyway?!"

"Um..." Yuuno sweat-dropped at their looks while the kids stopped wrestling on the floor and ran out of the area, Caro chasing Erio and Arashi while they ran from her. The pink haired girl was swinging her arms up and down while telling them to stop running so she could get them. "Would it help if I said I was sorry?"

"No." They said at the same time.

Yuuno just sighed.

Yuuno's not learning very quickly is he? Still, that reminded me of my own brother and sister though from people at a reasonable age it's much cuter and seems to emphasize the family aspects a lot.

oh well, the scene where Erio meeting Caro kinda reminded me about one of Ranma and Akane quarrels: inserts foot in mouth and female reacts badly. At least no Mallet-sama popping left or right.

@Raiser or any person that want to pick up the idea of the VivioXYuuno (who won't vomit at this proposal/idea)

It was said that Yuuno had no parents (or we can assume that either his parents died during his childbirth or was abandoned) and raised by the Scrya tribe. Now, if he was a heir to royal lineage of MidChilda, or has the bloodline from the original founders of the civilisation. Vivio, we know is of he Royal Belkan blood, so if the two were to have kid(s) together, wouldn't that make a awesome mage, containing a hybrid MidChilda/Belkan compared to TSAB mages of using one or having small elements of both?

Well I had considered the possibility that Yuuno might be of the Saint Kaiser lineage (based on his resemblance to Vivio). That might just add squick to it, I suppose.

In Daemon Kaiser, the original idea was for Volvo to possess Yuuno. However later on I considered the idea that Yuuno was indeed dead, but Volvo just looks like him because he's Yuuno's ancestor. That would have certainly worked as a better twist since everyone was expecting Yuuno to be alive but of course that would mean that Yuuno... well, wouldn't be alive

So that's why I'm a bit edgy about the whole Yuuno/Vivio thing. besides the age difference

I was thinking that Yuuno was a decedent of some Royal Family since he does looks somewhat like a prince.

And if he gets put in a dress I think he would look like a princess.

I didn't think that he would be a decedent of Olive. Which I should had considered since Yuuno and Vivio share the same hair color, eye(s), and most of all the same VA.

Edit: Also Vivio being able to Use the Infinity Library Effectively.

"Ah, so that's where you are!"

“What is it that you want?” asked Material-D who didn’t even remove her eyes from her tome.

"I was wondering if you wanted to play a game." A quick glance from the Hayate replica allowed her to see that Lutecia had entered the library and was carrying a chessboard and a small box on top of it. "Do you know chess?"

The replica raised an eyebrow. “You… want to play me at chess?”

“Sure… I mean, dinner’s still not quite ready yet and I wouldn’t mind matching wits with you!”

“Hmph… you’re either brave or foolish if you think you could match wits with me.” After some brief thought, she set her book aside. “Very well. Try and entertain me.”

Lutecia merely smiled as she put the board down and set up the pieces. "You prefer white or black?"

"You can have the first turn."

"Ah, okay… I read a lot of chess books and I don’t get a chance to put what I read into action often so I was hoping for a good opponent." While Lutecia pondered her first move, a part of her hoped that the other woman didn't realize her true purpose behind setting up this game.

By keeping Yami’s mind occupied, the chances that she would pick up on the battle unfolding far away from the compound would be lower. And as long as she remained in the dark about that, she wouldn’t be able to head out and help her friends. That was definitely a plus in Lutecia’s books. After all, a fight this close would absolutely ruin her precious resort, and she just couldn't have that.

"So tell me… who are these companions with you in that picture?" A light flex of her fingers allowed Yami to use telekinesis and summon a picture that had sat on top of the shelf behind Lutecia. The photo had Lutecia sitting with a fairly tall teenaged boy and a far shorter pink-haired girl. "What is your relationship with them?"

"Huh?" Lutecia was caught off guard by that question. Did Material-D just ask about her relationship with Erio and Caro? “We’re just…”

Honestly, considering the lengths they went to help her when she still worked with the Doctor, the term friends probably wasn’t enough to define what they meant to her. So where would they be?

“Just… what? Friends? Lovers? Or do you have some other bizarre relationship like that young man being some sort of pimp?”

"BWAH! P-pimp…?" Lutecia started twitching at the thought of Erio pimping her out. Although if he were to wear a fedora hat and some fine jewelry while she wore her new barrier jacket...

*Flash*

"Now then! Did you do a good job today?" asked Erio who was wearing a purple suit and a fedora hat. And of course, lots of fabulous looking jewelry that made Raising Heart look like an old busted stone.

"Yep yep-OOH!" Lutecia felt that slap on her rear hard as she was in her new barrier jacket, which, for some odd reason was looking a bit more brazen than usual. She grinned at him as she reached into her bosom to flash him the earnings for the day. "Got you lots of cash."

"Good girl! What about you…?" He looked at Caro, who was pouting. And he already knew the outcome of her efforts.

"I'm sorry! I'm just so short and flat and no one seems to see me as anything more than jailbait."

"Come on!" Lutecia got behind Caro and hugged the midget. "It's not her fault. I'll just work extra hard and pick up the slack."

"Good, now, you better show your appreciation for her hard work," said the redhead as he poked Caro in the belly with Strada in pimp cane mode.

Caro nodded and turned around to try and kiss Lutecia on the lips. She ended up kissing the girl's neck.

"And you better make it a good show!"

Wait a second… that’s not right. If anything, she should be the one doing the teasing and being in control. Hm, that would make for an amusing birthday present. She activates her new barrier jacket while forcing him in that getup. Then Garyu can get some pictures and everyone would have a laugh…

That would be fun. And seeing him all flustered would be so hot… hehehehehe…

"I would appreciate it if you could stop thinking of whatever perverted fantasy you're having and answer the question. Otherwise, I'm going to blow a wall apart."

"Don't you dare!" Lutecia snapped back to reality as she stood straight up, her eyes wide.

"If you are to be a good servant, you should learn to answer me more promptly," replied Material-D in a simple tone.

The younger Alpine rubbed her head for a moment while trying to get her thoughts together. "So, what did you want to know again? Something about my relationship with…?"

"These two. You were in this picture, so I was wondering how you know them."

Lutecia took a breath and sat down across from Yami. "Sorry, I heard you wrong. Anyway," she touched the white Pawn in front of her king, "I believe white goes first." She moved it forward two spaces.

The Hayate replica nodded and moved her own pawn forward one spot. "Now, about these two?"

Lutecia moved the King's Bishop three spots. "Well, they're my best friends."

"Best friends, huh?" She paused for a moment before moving the Queen's Rook's Pawn forward one spot.

"Yes." Lutecia nodded as she moved her King's Knight up two spaces and left one. "They saved me while their adopted mother saved mine."

Well, Lutecia did suspect that the two were on planet when she felt her device react to a Summon spell but kidnapping Yuuno? That was new to her although at least he’s been relocated to somewhere that’s safer. But that didn’t help now since at the moment, she had to deal with a rather upset Material-D. “Now hold on a sec…”

The quick spell from the Lord of Darkness went off without a hitch as the Insect Summoner found that most of her lower body no longer responded to her. “W-what the…?”

"Now then… you’re going to tell me everything from the beginning. Otherwise, I’ll introduce you to some of my own summons." Yami held up a hand and brought forth some sort of… slug for lack of a better term but with tendrils and two antennae at its head. “And I assure you that being bonded to a Stinging Licid is very uncomfortable.”

Lutecia winced and only had one thought go through her head.

Had the script done yesterday and Yasanagi did some touch-ups on it.

“Hmph… you’re either brave or foolish if you think you could match wits with me.” After some brief thought, she set her book aside. “Very well. Try and entertain me.”

Lutecia merely smiled as she put the board down and set up the pieces. "You prefer white or black?"

"You can have the first turn."

"Ah, okay… I read a lot of chess books and I don’t get a chance to put what I read into action often so I was hoping for a good opponent." While Lutecia pondered her first move, a part of her hoped that the other woman didn't realize her true purpose behind setting up this game.

By keeping Yami’s mind occupied, the chances that she would pick up on the battle unfolding far away from the compound would be lower. And as long as she remained in the dark about that, she wouldn’t be able to head out and help her friends. That was definitely a plus in Lutecia’s books. After all, a fight this close would absolutely ruin her precious resort, and she just couldn't have that.

"So tell me… who are these companions with you in that picture?" A light flex of her fingers allowed Yami to use telekinesis and summon a picture that had sat on top of the shelf behind Lutecia. The photo had Lutecia sitting with a fairly tall teenaged boy and a far shorter pink-haired girl. "What is your relationship with them?"

"Huh?" Lutecia was caught off guard by that question. Did Material-D just ask about her relationship with Erio and Caro? “We’re just…”

Honestly, considering the lengths they went to help her when she still worked with the Doctor, the term friends probably wasn’t enough to define what they meant to her. So where would they be?

“Just… what? Friends? Lovers? Or do you have some other bizarre relationship like that young man being some sort of pimp?”

"BWAH! P-pimp…?" Lutecia started twitching at the thought of Erio pimping her out. Although if he were to wear a fedora hat and some fine jewelry while she wore her new barrier jacket...

"Now then! Did you do a good job today?" asked Erio who was wearing a purple suit and a fedora hat. And of course, lots of fabulous looking jewelry that made Raising Heart look like an old busted stone.

"Yep yep-OOH!" Lutecia felt that slap on her rear hard as she was in her new barrier jacket, which, for some odd reason was looking a bit more brazen than usual. She grinned at him as she reached into her bosom to flash him the earnings for the day. "Got you lots of cash."

"Good girl! What about you…?" He looked at Caro, who was pouting. And he already knew the outcome of her efforts.

"I'm sorry! I'm just so short and flat and no one seems to see me as anything more than jailbait."

"Come on!" Lutecia got behind Caro and hugged the midget. "It's not her fault. I'll just work extra hard and pick up the slack."

"Good, now, you better show your appreciation for her hard work," said the redhead as he poked Caro in the belly with Strada in pimp cane mode.

Caro nodded and turned around to try and kiss Lutecia on the lips. She ended up kissing the girl's neck.

Olivie/Yuuno is fine, although we're going to get lots of Kaori Mizuhashi making a pairing of herself, and oh boy if we had to add Vivio into the picture. xD

Anyways, Vivio had a DNA test done on her and it got no results. I imagine if Yuuno was related to her it would have been discovered then.
