Episode 1:
Damn, that was great. The OP and ED theme songs might be one of my favorites among others this Fall. It got to the point pretty fast with the action. Akane is much more confident now and seemingly to plays a leader-like role. The way she took down the suspect was quite a sight. (note, the guy had nearly 300 PP level). I'm not too sure about this new cast of characters though but I think we'll learn more about them soon. The ending was a bit thrilling. I think whoever that is will become the main antagonist of this season :O

Ali Al-Saachez!!!!!!!!
OP heavily hinting they are the same person? If it turns out to be that way I wonder what her motive would be - Keeping an eye on Akane to see if she in contacts with Kougami or something like observing her growth in the current system.

PP is back! The episode wasn't particularly amazing IMO, but it managed to get me into the world of PP again quite well. Nothing much to talk about other than how amazing the OP and ED are and how much i dislike the new girl. Also the opening had a lot of hints to possible future events.

The change of writer and studio had me wary, but this premiere alleviated most of my worries. This did feel like an episode from the first season. The good half of the first season.
This was little more than an introduction but it was a very efficient one. It gave us a clear idea where each character stand, and it wasted no time reminding us Sybil sucks. Akane was the same as ever, the optimist who tries to do her best in a rotten world, with good results for once. Gino is better than ever, a lot more relaxed and outgoing thanks to Akane's influence. Yayoi is the same as well, which is to say, irrelevant. Among the new characters, I particularly liked Togane. Too bad the OP heavily hints he's going to be a villain. Mini Makishima is more wimpy than I expected. Given that it was his first mission, I suppose that can be excused. Waiting for more of him. Mika confuses me. She says she's been an inspector for a year and a half but it looked like it was her first day with Akane. She questioned her superior's every action and acted like a total dick. It doesn't make sense, given that she was assigned to Akane's team right after she started working at the end of S1. Unless she transfered a day after and only started working with Akane again a year and a half later (which seems unlikely), she should have already been familiar with her way of thinking.

Good first episode: nice to see Akane change and turn into the leader we knew she'd be.
HAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEDDD Shimotsuki but I guess someone has to be the Scully to Akane's Mulder. Hopefully she evolves too. Ginoza was awesome. So was Togane. But I have a feeling he's bad. Spoiler:

As someone who came into this with low expectations (didn't feel S1 needed a sequel, especially not one without Gen), I was pleasantly surprised by this episode. It didn't amaze, but considering its chief purpose was most likely just to re-acclimatize viewers to the PP world, it was fairly entertaining, and it was fun to see some of the old characters again. Seeing the now veteran and fully reliable Akane in action was pretty cool, and this episode really illustrated how she continues to be the beacon of light in an otherwise pretty dark and dystopian society. The more mellowed out Gino was nice too (guess he finally heeded his late father's words and became a ball, huh? ).
The new girl, however, is not a very good character at all thus far, so I hope she improves and becomes less one-note as the series progresses. |

Shimostuki is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too stiff. Those who are brittle break before they bend, so to speak.
I can tell already that Shimotsuki is either going to be an obstacle or be the first Inspector to go over the edge.

That was a good premiere for the second season. Was worried about how the writing and visuals would turn out, but everything went smoothly. Nice to see Akane back in action again, and while she's already toughened, she still sticks to her own way of doing things.
Can't say much about the new cast yet. I was hoping that Hinakawa would stand out more, but with all the hinting in the OP sequence, Togane is someone to look out for. I also didn't expect Shimotsuki to be that sort of person. Hopefully she'll improve and become more developed as the series progresses. EDIT: Is it true that this season will run for 11 episodes?
