Yeah. It's been a while but from what I remember the ones who show up are

Rider
Saber
Archer

From the F/SN cast, as enemies. Lancer is now Caster, who is an ally.

As for Berserker, True Assassin and some lancer, I don't remember if they show up in story or not.

As for the grail, it's no longer a battle among masters and more of a battle for saving humanity. The grails aren't as crucial.

And the next one, if I remember correctly, is Orleans with Giles as the final boss.

As for the servant, I don't remember correctly as well, but once you defeated them you can 'obtain them' to fight for you. You take the story crucial ones with you and the rest stay behind in your HQ.

All in all FGO is a mix between FSN ( Master and Servant ), Prism Illya ( collect servants ) and Fate/Extra ( RPG system ) which was obviously inspired by Pokemon franchise.

It should be good, the storyline is solid and the animation is great so far.

BTW. I am disappointed that once again they went the safe root with male protag. Will we ever see a Fate with female protag (Prototype does not count as it only had a short OVA and LNs are untranslated as far as I know)?

Apo protagonist is Sieg (unfortunately) so only strange fake would count.

Strange/Fake lead (well, one of the leads) is Ayaka. And I would say that Jeanne/Laeticia counts as a lead in Apocrypha.

I for one am relieved. But there are two main reasons why they choose Gudao instead of Gudako:

1. Male protagonist is always better when you have large rooster of females acting around him. Chemistry works better when it's Gudao and Mashu then Gudako and Mashu as you can see in trailer when he grabs her hand. Type-Moon was never hard into Yuri and it shows.

2. More importantly, Type-Moon care about two things when it comes to Fate - story and opinion of their fanbase ( japanese one to be exact ). Gudao is chosen because he has much more serious aura, while Gudako turned our more as a joke and comical reference of the series ( in great thanks to the fanbase ).

But I think we will see female protagonist in future media. Like people said about Apocrypha - it's only a matter of time before they animate it. And who knows what next Fate project will Type-Moon or even fanbae ( Empire of Dirt is a great example how TM can let their fans create new content ) make in the future.

On a more personal note, I am glad they have gone for Gudao as it made FGO anime possible for me to watch it. I cannot stand Gudako and if they choose her I would just skip it, so as far as I am concerned they made good decision.

Sorry, but I am tired of generic male MCs. 95% bet that Gu... Ritsuka will be the same typical lawful good anime MC like Shiro in Fate/UBW route or a lot of other harem/fantasy MCs.

Like I said, TM listen to fanbase. And to fanbase Ritsuka is much more fit to be MC because of his serious personality than his female counterpart who will make it into comedy show.

And I doubt that TM wants GO anime to be comedy anime.

Well with Grand Order, Extella and Prototype anime maybe we'll get a new season for Carnival Phantasm with Gudako and her gacha shenanigans.

Of course, if you are ONLY reading Riyo's Let's Play FGO, you'd get the impression that Gudako is a joke. IF you actually fucking played the game, you'd know that she's as capable as a MC as Gudao, due to Nasu not discriminating between both PoV and the nature of the game itself (The Master being the player avatar). And stop speaking on behalf of the fanbase.

Agree, memes were a mistake and the perception of Gudako has been warped too much to be taken seriously despite in the game Gudako = Gudao.
