If Toradora DVDs are actually released in my preferred regions with my preferred subtitles, then they would be my first non-Studio Ghibli anime DVD purchase. Last edited by Yukinokesshou; 2009-03-26 at 00:38. |

Thanks for pointing that out, or I might not have noticed. Sorry about my "impatience"... I jokingly added the "come on, now" bit retrospectively after the 4~5 posts following fish eric's made no reference at all to that letter [Edit] Ah, and thanks for the translation too, of course! I'm a 'doji' for forgetting to say that.

Really? It's not open ended in the slightest to me. They both love and are committed to each other, have grown up and Taiga made peace with her family. I'd say it's a pretty solid ending for the couple. My only complaint was the time apart, but my shipper goggles tell me they at least talked while they were apart.

Good ending to the anime. I was pleased.... Rewatched 24/25 again, and the entire last episode now looks good...
In any case, given what they've all said in their monologues and to each other, I'm quite sure they marry. Taiga made peace with her family and Ryuuji's already pretty happy. Now that they've met, they can get the blessing of their family members and will go on to marry. |

By his definition there's no such thing as a "solid ending".... people drift apart, they die, yup its all open-ended. yeah, sure, whatever... :P

I have seen that people think one year has passed since Taiga left near the end of episode. I have done some research.
Series start when they are in second year. Proof of that is Kitamura confessing to Taiga on their freshman year. Also at start of series he says to Ryuji that they are in same class again. Since we have established that they are in 2nd year when series start we can progress from there. Now Japanese schools start in September or October. So it is fall. Then later on we have them go to Ami summer house which means 2nd year is over. After that they are in 3rd and final year of high school. High school graduation is is in March. Taiga left soon after valentine which is in middle of February. So they were separated for only month or two, not whole year. Another proof that they are in 3rd year is that Ryuji is almost 18 year old. High school graduates are around 18 year old when they finish school. Also since Ryuji has good grades we can assume he did not fail the grade. So there you go. Taiga is not that cruel to leave Ryuji all by himself for one year ;-) |

Are they together in a stable way? No it's a fact. This is an open ended ending even because it's shown Taiga returned at the very end of the episode, but what will happen it's all up in the air. If you fail to realize this it's your problem dude. Quote:
If they stayed together or they married it wouldn't be an open ended ending. Anyway I explained myself enough and I don't want to get involved in crappy shippers' wars. Sayonara to the section! |

There's a few semesters in a year. When they went to Ami's house, the first semester was just over, which was roughly July, I guess. Then we have the Cultural Festival and next up is the KitamuraxSumire in November, I think. Next, it's the Christmas arc, which is in December, followed by Ryuuji falling sick over the New Year and Taiga praying to Kitamura at that time. Ski-trip, Valentine's Day was in February. At this point, they're still Year 2 students, with two months before the year ends. Taiga transferred away from the school at this point. Also, in the last scene, we have students talking about the Year 3 having a fantastic Cultural Festival and Sports Festival lead by Kitamura, followed by the legendary class 2-C one year ago in the Cultural Festival where they won everything. That was referring to Ryuuji's class one year ago. The graduation is really Ryuuji and co's cohort's graduation from high school, which shows they were in their Year 3 by then. So, yep, Taiga is that cruel. |

I just googled and found info that school start in September or October in Japan. Could have been wrong info thou. It also said that it ends in July but graduation is earlier. It is possible that persons who wrote it just assumed that time period. I used two sources for this.
