Yeah, her eyes seemed a little too slanty to be Beatrice to me. ^^;

But yeah... the bangs and the lighting didn't help. =P

Beatrice wears a lacey choker (or something that resembles one that I don't know the proper name for). So that's definitely Beatrice.

I think it'll take me a while to adjust to the art. I actually prefer the style they had for Higurashi.

Eh...Higurashi's art was a bit strange to me. Don't get me wrong, I like Higurashi, but Umineko's art seems more promising.

That probably depends on the different kind of original material they are based off.

In higurashi's VN humans have three fingers, just to mention one. Ryukishi's art has improved since then, although I wonder why he decided to go with simple black eyes.

Yes, I think the art of Higurashi wasn't different because they couldn't do better but rather because it went better with the psycho crap.

Although the first arc really had some issues when it came to animation...

That's my favorite style for Higurashi actually, followed by the art used for Rei. I just prefer the Higurashi original game art to the Umineko original game art, and also prefer the 2nd and 3rd season (not the 1st season) Higurashi anime art to the Umineko anime art.

I wonder if the artstyle for each season will be different in Umineko as well... *is kinda hoping so*

The art style probably won't change. I'd surmise the reason there was a major discernable improvement in the art style in S2 than S1 is due to the budget. Frankly I doubt they expected S1 to be so popular and probably never gave it that big of a budget, which also shows in the editing and greatly altered plot advancement.

Of course we know that S1 beat a lot of expectations, and we can clearly see that S2 got a lot more money and attention that made both the storytelling and the animation a lot better. Considering the attention Umineko is getting, we can assume the production team will be getting consistent money flow and support for the creation process.
