I do not watch Bamboo Blade...yet, so I am not sure if there is an actual episode you are talking about or if this is simply a arm-chair session.

Whatever the case maybe, a better poll would be who knows the Avatar you are using and its significance to the 'history' of anime .

Regult Heavy Missile Carrier from Macross

Though to be honest I never really liked original Macross for some reason but I thought DYRL was great.
Also I think I might be an expectation as I watched Macross when I was around 16, and I well I think my cousin being somewhat mech fan that was also another factor that caused me to watch such an old anime.

I didn't really like DYRL at all. It killed a lot of great character development moments, short-change a lot of characters roles when compared to the TV Series and compressed a lot of the plotline, made it unnecesarily dark and cannot be considered canon because of the way it ends. The only good thing about the moive in my opinion was the titular theme song and the redesigned Zentradi's. Studio Nue obviously felt so too because they ignored every element in the movie except for those too things when they did Macross 7.

Woot, Macross was the show that got me into anime in the first place.

Cry, because anything that serves to place a barrier between different age demographics where there need not be one is definitely unproductive.

Apparently, there's a young "otaku" in Bamboo Blade too young to remember and unfamiliar with mecha anime from 20-30 years ago. That was the kernel for this poll.

I see that sort of "historical unawareness" so often in so many hobbies that its more of an automatic assumption that the average fan thinks the universe began when they started paying attention
