Chell does escape. In fact, GLaDOS pretty much lets her go, stating that it's "easier than killing you". And considering their rediscovery of the 'Cooperative Testing Initiative' using Atlas and P-Body (the robots you use in Coop), she'll no longer has a need for Chell.

It's actually nice that GLaDOS not only saves Chell from a very gruesome fate, but the send-off to get Chell to the surface includes singing turrets. Hell, GLaDOS was nice enough to send out your charred Companion Cube along too If I didn't know any better, I'd say GLaDOS was tsundere

The main problem though is timeline: we're not sure when Portal 2 takes place in relation to Portal and Half-Life 2.

According to the wiki and some other sources, Portal 2 is set 200 years after Portal 1. So yea, a tad bit looooong after HF.

^ Of course not. Portal 1 takes place early on during the combines invasion of earth which during that time Gordan is in Statis.

And Portal 2 supposedly takes place hundreds of years after and the invasion might be done. So nope no Gordan cameo.

Sure, I will get Ep 3 as soon it's out but I'm not really waiting for it.

I think about HL2E3 all the time. Portal 2 is nice, and I want to get it as soon as I can, but HL2E3 is far more important to me. Portal was essentially a completely enclosed story. HL2 through Episode 2 is not. I want closure. I want more HL2. This is turning into Duke Nukem, only marginally worse because while not nearly as long of a wait (yet), Valve is leaving a ton of huge fans pissed off at the lack of attention given to an incomplete story. I mean, it's not like HL2 is some minor game that had a nice run, but overall was not a big seller. HL2 is frickin' huge. Even if Valve is still working on it, why can't we get ANY public indication of progress?

That all said, Portal 2 is #1 on my "Next Discretionary Purchase" list. I've been waiting for this as long as I have for HL2E3.

Y'know, there's another bit of evidence Portal may connect with Half-Life and Valve was waiting to release Portal 2 before Episode 3...

The Borealis ship was built in Aperture Laboratories, and because of that, whatever the big secret of what is on the ship is might be connected to Aperture as well.

In Portal 2 you can actually find The Borealis' dry-dock hidden in Chapter 6. Doing so gets you an achievement too.~

... Valve itself has stated that they don't know when Hl2E3 is coming out. I think they put down the release date at about the same time as the apocalypse on the official website. Hopefully for you, now that they've had a chance to work on Portal for a little time, they can now focus on Half-life.

I am sure if you have the cash, you can fund them to make the game you want for you. Or buy their stocks and become a board directer or something.

and instead of me funding them, how about they get up to gear and make the damn 3rd episode if they want millions of dollars from people all over the world.

anyways back to portal2, I havent got it yet but is it as good as the first?

All I can say is, the puzzles are somewhat like in the first game until you come to the new elements and with the inclusion of more characters like Wheatley and Cave Johnson the humor got expanded, as did the story and background information we get, so that's a plus.
And I like it how they jab at Chell being a silent protagonist.

They are getting millions of dollars from people all over the world right now. Portal 2 sold 4 million copies and counting, and that didn't include Steam purchases. You are saying they shouldn't have made Portal 2?

And Valve Time is Valve Time. They promised a new Half Life, but in Valve Time. That's just how they roll.

The first game made it clear that the cake existed, but Chell was never told she could eat it. Your literal sense of not being able to have the cake and eat it too.

And with the cake-core burned up in the first game, Glados doesn't obsess about cakes anymore in Portal 2.
