Matches: A2-1 C2-2 E2-1
Toki just can't seem to stay away from strong opponents. She was in the same group as Akaza Akari in 2012, the same group as Mami in 2013 and now shares are group with Kaname Madoka the reigning Saimoe 2013 Champion. I was pretty hyped up for Toki vs Mami last year as a showdown between the 2011 and 2012 champions but Saki got thrown under a bus half way in the contest so the match didn't really pan out. Now we've got the 2012 and 2013 champions facing off and so far both series look to be in top shape. Toki's round 1 match involved three Saki characters so it was totally useless. While the non-Nagia Puella Magi looked great, Madoka was only okay in Round 1. Defeating a Puella Magi is no easy task, but I think Toki might be able to pull it off so I'm siding with her winning. As for the other two matches, Shizuno should beat Kana with help from Toki. Mihoko should also beat Nozomi with help from Toki. They would probably win anyways but Toki support just seals the deal. Votes: Takakamo Shizuno Onjouji Toki Fukuji Mihoko Predictions: Takakamo Shizuno Onjouji Toki Fukuji Mihoko

A2-1: Pick preference: Shizuno (Saki) > Kana Minami
E2-1: Picking: Mihoko (Saki) Individual predictions: A2-1: Shizuno (A triple Saki combo should be enough for Shizuno to win, but I wouldn't put it past Kana (Boss) Minami to go with a Madoka alliance to pull off another win.) C2-2: Madoka (Both Madoka and Toki are AST winners and they appear strong enough to get through repchange, so there really is no advantage for either side to snipe the other. I don't thinnk Madoka wants to be the first PMMM rep to lose a 1-on-1 match against a non-PMMM rep though.) E2-1: Nozomi (Saki vs. LoveLive..... Nozomi looks strong enough to win against Mihoko, maybe even against a triple Saki combo. Of course, she could also try a temporary alliance of her own to reach the next round) |

A big week for voting this week, Saimoe, Fiji, Scotland and New Zealand all have their elections/referenda coming to a head. A date with destiny. Well today's battle of the champions is little short of this:

Megu is decently stronger but I expect Misaki to be stronger. Natsume didn't look very good last round. It's a gamble but I'll side with Rena winning. Takao is pretty weak. Kinue should win. Not a very strong group of matches this time. Votes: Shokuhou Misaki Ryuuguu Rena Atago Kinue Predictions: Shokuhou Misaki Ryuuguu Rena Atago Kinue

- So the main factions each have one win: Shizuno for Saki (Team Achiga), Madoka for PMMM, and Nozomi for LoveLive. Looks like the stronger challengers won their matches.
A2-2: Picking: Megumi (Gochiusa) C2-1: Picking: Natsumi (Non Non Biyori) E2-2: Picking: Takao (D-Frag) Predictions: A2-2: Misaki (Can't go against Railgun faction just yet) C2-1: Natsumi (Despite Rena having a higher 1st round vote total, the two challengers appear to be close enough in strength that Natsumi could find a way to win) E2-2: Kinue (Not familiar with Kinue but will likely win as a Saki rep. It also helps that Takao didn't have a high vote total in her match)

Sometimes I forget that the Puella Magi are invincible. This is always followed up with a reminder that they really aren't able to lose. Madoka receives over 60% of the votes and destroys Toki. Is there no one that can stop the Puella Magi this year? Shizuno won as expected but I'm surprised to see Mihoko go down so easily. She did make the semifinals a few years back and her series is still relevant. Even if she didn't win, she could have made it more of a match with Nozomi.

I'm inclined to think you're right about Madoka Magica, but Love Live! might be right there in the 2nd Tier of factions (PMMM being a tier unto themselves, it seems).
