Question...

I looked it up on google... didn't look hard enough at the time I guess, but what was the reason they (cancelled eh?) stopped showing Haruhi, when the fandom was great, everyone loved the show (ignoring all you haters :P), and it was heavily advertised enough to make ANYONE watch it?

I then heard somewhere they were going to do a second season based upon the 4th Light Novel, but then it all stopped all a sudden.... >_>

So besides Haruhi-chan and Nyoron Churuya-san which came out recently, is there going to be a second season sometime???
It wasn't cancelled, it just finnished its run of episodes (speaking of which why was Endless Eight cut?)

And, we currently don't know if there's going to be a second SERIES (the official second season was cancelled for a "new animation" which has been deemed by the fans to be called "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya")

Don't know.

Probably them realizing they couldn't finish off the Melancholy arc in 5 episodes, and needed a 6th.

We know it was originally planned to be animated, given the appearance of the frog costume in chronologically later episodes.

Was there actually something said to the effect of it being included or is it just an assumption based on a reference?

I remember hearing, way back, that Melancholy was originally planned to be 5 episodes, and they were going to have Endless Eight in place of broadcast episode 13.

But I can't remember where I read it... Sorry.

I know I wouldn't. Maybe he should expand the ending over a couple novels? Or he could just do what every other sensible author does, and write what HE WANTS no what THE FANS WANT.

Nowhere.

Has it ever been said.

That Vol. 10 is the last novel.

I don't see how people can think this either. There's absolutely, totally no setup for it whatever.

This is because they haven't had me smack some sense into them.

Haruhi has the setup for a fairly long-running series.

There's no way Tanigawa can really end it in one more book. If he does I'll be so pissed...

Why does everyone refer to Haruhi as a tsundere? She's much more of a genki type IMO, and I don't remember her doing anything tsundere...

She is an extreme tsundere type, she is either extremely tsuntsun or deredere.

She's also officially tsundere. In the first fanbook, there's even a Tsundere Meter for each episode that states her tsun:dere ratio.

I quote from my old post with Tsundere Meter listed out:

The Tsundere meter has 20 blocks, meaning 1 block = 5% Tsun or Dere. Tsun is at the top of the list in blue, Dere is at the bottom in red.

I'm listing the Tsundereness of Haruhi according to the Tsundere Meter in the Airing order:

Episode 2, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu I: 35% Tsun 65% Dere
Episode 3, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu II: 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 4, Suzumiya Haruhi no Taikutsu: 75% Tsun 25% Dere
Episode 5, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu III: 95% Tsun 5% Dere
Episode 6, Lone Island Syndrome (Part 1): 25% Tsun 75% Dere
Episode 7, Mysterique Sign: 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 8, Lone Island Syndrome (Part 2): 25% Tsun 75% Dere
Episode 9, Someday In the Rain: 10% Tsun 90% Dere
Episode 10, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu IV: 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 11, Day of Sagittarius : 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 12, Live A Live : 10% Tsun 90% Dere
Episode 13, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu V: 95% Tsun 5% Dere
Episode 14, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu VI: 5% Tsun 95% Dere

But... tsunderes go from bitchy and superficially uninterested to loving and submissive over time.

Spoiler for Size:

It doesn't mean a girl who's tsun half the time and dere the other...

Oh well, thanks for answering the question =3 *cookies*

No, that's what it USED to mean. These days it practically means "bipolar".

Rin is NOT a good example of what you're talking about, either, as she definitely flops back and forth throughout UBW... though there is a general trend towards dere, yes.

Interestingly, Kyon's behaviour qualifies his as a tsundere as well. This means that Kyon and Haruhi are tsundere for each other, which is amusing.
