Despite her self-proclaimed genius, Takao doesn't always figure everything out right away. That's especially true since she didn't even bother examining the kid. She half-assed it and the kid is paying the price.

He didn't flatline though.
I looked this up to be sure - Flatlining and having no pulse isn't the same though. I mentioned it because I think she called one for one with that abbreviation. That being said, I might have gotten the term wrong. In any event, should he somehow fake it, the entire CPR procedure is still rather detrimental. And I bet at least some of their issues were faked. Literally the arc right before this one was about a nurse poisoning someone - Likelyhood of them doing it again is rather low. So unless they actually poison themselves, the medical staff would be the only ones with opportunity and means.

I disagree with you all.

Either way, my point is that electric shocks don't restart stopped hearts. They stop hearts, hopefully so they can restart with a better rhythm. They're the "have you tried turning it off and on again?" of heart attacks.

In any event, I checked the term and she apparently asked for an automated one, so should he fake it after all, it the machine should be able to pick it up. Only leaves the pressure from the CPR as potential damage. And if the timing is always the same, them faking it is far more likely than someone poisoning them. Having a story were a nurse is poisoning someone twice in a row would be a bit surprising.

Solid episode. There were few surprises here. The kids being responsible for the angel sightings and their reasoning was expected. They were brats, but they weren't evil. Fair enough that they wanted to do something in atonement. Especially since it was obvious that Kenta didn't have long left.
Though I didn't think the kids were drugging themselves...that's a bit of a wild tactic to take! The mystery set aside, I think they handled Kenta's death with as much dignity as they could. Takao finally picked herself up and helped a dying kid have a bit of peace in his last days. Obviously a hard one for her since there was no fixing that situation. But at least she didn't have to live with the regret of not going to see him.

It's strange that Japanese hospital having nurses in charge of drugs, not pharmacists. When the nurses are short of hands, the nurse station and the drug storage shelves are left unsupervised.
Takao's TV drama is as expected, since the same author's other novels have been made into TV drama already. Takao novel is the only one getting the anime adaption. There will be a special. |

So the kids were able to get all of the medicine needed to drug themselves without anyone realizing it
And they felt so bad about what they did that they went so far as to poison themselves? Uh...huh. You sure you don't need to keep them in the hospital longer? Wrong hospital?

Kotori turning up the music when Takao started crying and then wishing her a Merry Christmas was really cold. Are we sure he's not the one with autism?
This arc did a great job humanizing Takao. Until now, she was little more than a gremlin who she did as she pleased.

--- To be fair to the hospital. There are several hospitals in Austria where getting into the nurse rooms looks as if it is piss easy too with all the blind angles there, especially during the evening shifts. - That being said, I doubt they actually store medication in there, bandages, syringes and so on though? Yep., door is open wide enough for that to be clearly visible. I kinda want Legal Mindset to review this now, and hear whether Takao is liable for not stopping it. ![]()

BTW don't fake a cardiac arrest near any doctors. Especially that Kuma guy would probably break my ribs lol.
