If I had to judge, I.S. has exponentially strong armor.

They have roughly 150-200mm Steel Equivalent of protection, while that number seems large, even Modern Battle Tank has 1000-1500mm Steel Equivalent of armor in their disposal. However, at the same time I.S. are damn thin, probably 15mm give or take. Their shield was thick enough, probably twice that number.

You need nothing short of small antitank weapon to take them out.

NOTE: in this scenario, I assume modern tank can no-sell I.S. grade light and medium weapon with relative ease (though heavier weapon may punch through). Everyone else agrees that I.S. weapon are much more destructive than that...

Only if they didn't have frontal armor, you're fucked if you face Ichika (he has armor BTW). Some I.S. also has complement visor, and they'll no-sell even your largest pistol

I already said that nothing except anti-tank weapon work (not even grenade and claymore/frag mines), using assault rifle and other kind of small arms is futile.

Even then, overwhelming force against an IS without shields? That's seems more fair if you ask me....

And that's why I have STARIS IS-like mech armors being fully armored

I agree with you actually.

EDIT: However in mine small arms is used to dish out the energy shield, not the armor, using incendiary ammo in this case (because plasma corrodes the energy barrier, and now you know)

Well, they scrambled against I.S. not even using strategy like the Resident Evil Trailer you shown, definitely Hollywood Tactics.

If you're fighting I.S., you should combine anti-tank and anti-helicopter combat doctrine, not zerg rush them

That was pretty much the case in my fic as well....

Especially since I'm upgrading Silver Gospel and Mysterious Lady to STARIS level mechs (Constantly a generation better than the current IS level at the time)... as they are both members of STARIS, Scion Initiates and GRU/Anti-Infinite Stratos, respectfully

Medium weapon..... not so much.... as no sell but can resist it to certain level....take a few hits perhaps?

May need more than Anti-tank weapons.... I think Anti-tank weapons could only do chip damages...... (and considering how fast IS can move, it might not even hit it) Long Reload time plus slow slug movement make Anti-tank weapons not very effective against IS....

Since Conventional weapons are useless.... you probably need unconventional weapon to win, weapon such as.... you know... real life Rail gun? Those Things are probably experimental, too dangerous or too expensive to produce.... not to mention the power consumption and weight....

I already said I have lower standard on I.S. power level than most based on visual observation in the anime and applying that to novel description (I.S. barrier invulnerable blah-blah-baba-yadah). So you we're right in that department, but of course, then you wonder why even the almighty White Knight was implied to be knocked out, or at least damaged enough for Chifuyu to be injured....

That's why the IS was such a great Asset for military units... The speed, the power and all-round fighting ability for the mech armors is absolutely ridiculous...

And that's why it created the Infinite Stratos Universe that we know it now

@ Senpai - I meant that the US expects them to guard the base, but all they give is peashooters? Might as well no put guards there.

"Janus" The secret contact of STARIS, has been supplying them with alot of experimental projects.... And at the end of the fic, it'll make alot of sense...

Unless "Janus" is Tabane, it wouldn't make much sense. Even if she was Tabane, she only cares about Houki and Ichika. When Cecilia so much as asked her to just check on her IS, Tabane was bitchy and blew her off.

That's why I fix that and give them a pair of assault chopper, and several ground combat vehicle, plus loads and loads of SAA (Strata Assault Armor, mini-I.S. to be precise), and even then they still fail as PT bring their own mook-grade combat units. At least the logistic issue has been fixed.

I guess it's mostly desperate siege, as Natasha shown us, they'll do everything to stall Madoka until friendly I.S. arrive... which is dumb, why no friendly I.S. unit stationed there in the first place?

Watching them slaughter people in proxy wars that serve absolutely no purpose, killing multiple civilians?

Or ever watching your invention getting miniature nuclear weapons upgrades to them, being a giant stalemate for humanity?
