Dr. Ramune Mysterious Disease Specialist

Quote:
The doctor is in, though I doubt he’d be your first choice in practitioners. A TV anime of Aho Toro’s Dr. Ramune Mysterious Disease Specialist has been revealed during Virtual Crunchyroll Expo today and will be hitting Japanese screens in January 2021 and streaming on Crunchyroll soon after its TV broadcast. Alongside the reveal is the announcement of the lead voice actors and staff, and key visual.
Synopsis

Quote:
As long as hearts exist inside people, there will always be those who suffer.

And then something "strange" enters their mind and causes a strange disease to manifest itself in the body.

The illness, which is called a "mystery disease" is unknown to most, but certainly exists.
There is a doctor and apprentice who fights the disease, which modern medicine cannot cure.

His name is Ramune.

He acts freely all the time, is foul-mouthed, and doesn’t even look like a doctor!

However, once he is confronted with the mysterious disease, he is able to quickly uncover the root cause of his patients' deep-seated distress and cure them.

And beyond that...

First episode is up on Crunchyroll.

Ramune reminds me a little bit of Yato from Noragami. Working for the right price....

There's actually more drama in this show than I had expected and I assume the storytelling will follow a weekly format of different cases each week. Ramune's personality is probably the most entertaining part of the show.

Hard to take him seriously at times but he's also knowledgable about what he's doing. Not bad for the first episode.

Episode 1

Well, that was interesting with a nice ending to the episode. Things looked simple, the issue got resolved fairly quick here and it reminded me of old school anime. Certainly seems like an anime you can try watching with your family.

Preview for episode 2.

This was surreal and weird but I kind of liked it.

Side characters outshining Ramune this week. He also has long ways to go as a Mysterious Disease Specialist. Looking forward to seeing his growth as well.

I have to ask...is the manga-ka just hungry?! 5 episodes and 4 different food related ailments. But, jokes aside I am enjoying this show.

Episode 5

The most serious episode so far and also a 2 part one. That's some heavy PTSD the mom is suffering. Hope it gets resolved but in a somewhat interesting, surprising manner and not with the most obvious method.

I know Haak dropped this show after the first couple of eps as he didn't want more food items to be ruined for him

He'll probably never look at a chikuwa the same way again. Also, talk about your tears being delicious. And, I hope the guy with the chili pepper finger nails never ended up like this, http://www.hilariousgifs.com/that-was-a-mistake/.

I was thinking all these ailments were food-related, but I forgot the burglar was using a theoretically non-edible plant.

On one hand you get this tragic family and then it ends with loli grandma teasing Ramune in a cast. Leave it to anime.

That two-parter was the best anime of the season, bar none.
