I originally found this picture in Danbooru's "Heart-Breaking" pool. I know it doesn't make much sense in canon, considering that in canon Homura's physical body is pretty much 'reset' with every rewinding of time, plus her nature as a Puella Magi lets her heal herself in ways a normal human can't, but... I'd like to think this is a 'what-if' where that stuff wasn't true. You could also look at it as a visual manifestation of her various emotional scars...

(Mind you, I also have the headcanon that Homura has a surgical scar down the center of her chest, due to work done on her congenitally-weak heart.
