That wasn't a very good first episode, too many flashbacks of season 1. I feel like it would have been better if the few good minutes if this episode had been mixed in with the next episode and made into episode 1. Anyone that liked season 1 and was excited to see season 2 wouldn't need the flashbacks since modt people went back to watch the first season and it hasn't even been that long since the first aired. As I said this was a bad first episode for a season at least in my opinion.

Episode 2:
Ooh, I kinda like how everyone is training and getting ready for the upcoming battle competitions. Event seems to be getting publicity as well. This was pretty much a buildup episode as it introduces the participants. Obviously, Deku and his class is featured the most so far. I'm actually quite hyped to see how they'll adapt the rest of this arc. A lot of heroes are in this and glad to see some action already as well. Todoroki is a badass

Review here. It was good showing for the start of the tournament. Even Mineta did well, until he started gloating and got decked for it. Next time, you go straight for the win.

This was definitely much better than the first one. Awesome action and excellent pacing, not much to add really. It's pretty standard shounen fare in many ways (a bit of HunterXHunter's exams, a bit of Naruto's...) but done so wonderfully I don't mind.

Yay, on to the actual sports festival. And class 1-A is in for a tough time, considering their "reputation", not helped at all by Bakugo. And talk about overpowered, good thing Todoroki wasn't part of the entrance exam, he probably could have wiped out all the robots easily. I thought Bakugo's quirk was powerful, but this ridiculous.
Fun to have Eraserhead and Mic on commentary, looking forward to more of the action next week. |

A pretty good episode. I'm going to guess from the context clues that Todoroki is the son of Fiery Endeavor?
Todoroki reminds more of a Gaara-like character. A kid with amazing ability, a poor home life, and who at first has no need for personal connections and in a way still wants to prove himself "good enough" even though he will never really admit it. Eventually he will learn through the power of shounen friendship and other cliches about what it means to truly be the best and to be a hero. It's not only about logic and reasoning, but also about the heart. Which I think for Todoroki is as frozen as the ice around him. Well, we'll have to see where this goes. The series is progressing nicely.

I think as a general rule, in this kind of universe, there's never going a clear power ladder between characters. Sure, Deku might get more affirmed as an hero, but in the end all powers interact with their enemies'; some enemies might be more suitable for a heat manipulator like Todoroki than a pure strength type like All Might (and Deku). What makes All Might so great IMHO isn't strictly his muscles; it's more that his power (pure, raw physical strength) is perhaps the simplest symbolic embodiment of what heroes are and represent, and his transformed body even more so.

Well, that, but also he has the power of "shounen main character" which basically ensures that he will achieve his dream of being the greatest hero someday.
Also, there's the fact that he's telling this whole story from the POV of the future when he's already achieved his goal.

Well, aside from that, One For All is clearly winning the super power lottery (although it technically bypasses the lottery and earns it through merit instead).
It's not 'mere' super strength, this is the daddy version of super strength. Last edited by Dengar; 2017-04-11 at 01:24. |

but anyway, i just wanted to mention that OFA isnt really that big of a powerhouse IF you consider potential hax abilitys to appear in the show, mind-f*ckery is always something that could happen, or body control of something else like matter manipulation, all in all, i can imagine a lot of battles with even a prime Allmight getting a huugh amount of problems once the villians use the correct powers with the correct plan |

I don't mean that, All Might is definitely a top tier hero. I just mean that this is not Dragonball (or, well, DBZ; Super is taking a different road ) where being the strongest means being untouchable. You can probably say of a handful of heroes that they are the strongest, but then establishing fixed hierarchies between them becomes hard. One big point of All Might's character is that for all his strength he DOES have weaknesses; he just hides them behind his bravado for the benefit of the public, because he aims at being a source of inspiration and hope.
